Its cold

I was riding my bicycle today in my t shirt and when I stopped to rest I got a slight chill from sweat...he he. I don't mean to gloat.

Next time we get 4 days like we had Labor day weekend in '07, I'll write and let you pay back. It was 117 degrees and high humidity. I'll take the -20 I grew up with in upstate NY any time.

Did you panic? :D

Having grown up in the Rochester, NY area, in a word, no. I drive better in snow than most people still living up there. But I've done 24 years as a cop in Fla, and never been snowed on down here. My retirement house is 10 miles south of Lake Ontario. Can't wait to move out of Fla.

Just a little ribbing. :)

Look on the bright side (there's always a bright side, right?) Maybe some of those humongous insects y'all have down there will die.

Yeah, but you can't buy ammunition without an anal probe and a note from your mother where you live!:D

Ha Ha funny ...too bad they already know how to open doors and come on in ...need to teach them to do chores.:D
I saw a mosquito in the summertime the size of a quarter...Really
Today it's 19......

Orlando report..

28 degrees here in Orlando.. frost on the cars.. the grass is "crunchy" some plants are frozen.. It's funny watching the local news.. as there were no Hurricanes this year for them to report on.. The quote of the day was a weather reporter.. " There is an arctic blast of air headed this way" coming from " THE ARCTIC"..

Stay warm everybody:D

I don't miss it at all... ;) Except of course Zwigles Hots..and oh yeah my Grand Kids :D

8 degrees here this morning. Thankfully, the cold is supposed to ease up after today. I hate to see my electric bill next month, between the cold and the inefficient heat pump. I thought I got away from this stuff when I moved here from Michigan!

It was -6° here this morning. A couple of days ago it was -18°F. Once this year I saw -24°F, something that hasn't happened here for a couple of years. We used to go two or three weeks at at stretch where the highs never topped zero. That hasn't happened for a while either.

Most important, I sure am glad I took the time to rent the back hoe a couple of summers ago. The septic line is kind of shallow in my 1847 house. I was getting tired of showering at the Y all winter and crapping in a Satellite in my driveway if I didn't get the straw bales down in the fall. Six inches of insulation four feet wide seems to have done the trick. I haven't even had to plug in the heating cord I laid along the pipe for good measure.

In another old house, the line from the well ran exposed along a basement wall. I spiral-wrapped it with heat cable so all I had to do was plug it in when it froze. On cold nights I had to remember to open the cabinet under the sink and set up an electric fan to blow room-temperature air for the the pipes that ran inside the north wall.

The Local section of the newspaper, usually full of entertainment , is pretty dull this time of year. I guess crime does not like the cold weather much.

Bingo! As they say in North Dakota, 40 below keeps out the riff raff.

Id use a spring loaded bb pistol so long as I had a protective cover over the TV.

Yep, criminals are too lazy to steal, for the most part, in this brisk weather. Too much like work.

The importance of comfort level and tranquility are factors not to be lightly dismissed.

I love my little "office" in the wash room. It's a daily tradition after a mug of coffee to step out of the main digs and contemplate on the throne of thinkin'.

Costs a little extra to run the electric oil radiator, but it's worth evah penny.

Summertime is rough. I gotta put a window unit out there.

Was a bit chilly on the river this morning. It has warmed up to 24 as I type this. I'm 90 miles north of the Gulf of Mexico. It's cold there too I guess. I thought Al Gore had invented something called Global Warming that would keep us warm???

Something like 7 for a low here and maybe up to the 20's for a high, snow all over the dang place.

Honestly first winter in about ten plus years it's snowed in Dec and stuck like this with the low temps,I have a friend in his 70's and he says when he was a kid it got like this in Nov and lasted til March-so yea the weather's changed a bit.
