Its Coming, we can stop it.

"An off duty LEO who was there said his departments lawyer told them NOT to join the NRA because it will make them look like "gun nuts' if they have to use their weapon on duty. He and his fellow officers believe this to be true.

Well, they can certainly buy a membership for a family member or three. I am sure that the NRA wouldn't mind getting some anonymous donations.

Joined SAF last night, and GOA tonight.

Does the NRA just release membership numbers every so often, or is there a way for us to keep track?

That's one lawyer's opinion.

Another lawyer might make the argument that the LEO joined to pursue Instructor status and to keep informed about gun development so he could SAFELY handle and CLEAR any guns he encountered in the line of duty. He might be interested in becoming a better marksman so that he could hit a perp if ever involved in a gunfight instead of spraying half of downtown. It would not be hard to find plenty of documentation showing a large volume of LEO gunfire with few, if any hits in some shootouts.
My point is that a good lawyer could argue either side of an issue.
I think LEOs SHOULD join the NRA.
