Its Coming, we can stop it.

Instead of just making a donation why not use the money to make more new members? I have always just sent in a donation but now I am going to make my wife, grandkids, etc. members. The member list will grow and the NRA will still get the money. Makes sense too me. Larry

GREAT idea!!!!!

When writing to your congressman, do not fail to point out that in the state of CT where the Newtown shooting occurred, the "Assault Weapons Ban" never lapsed and was still in effect on that awful day. This is singular proof that the newly re-proposed law will do nothing.

I'm not sure that telling them current laws were ineffective is the best thing for our cause. May give them grander and more sweeping ideas.

8000 new members a day since last Friday

Curious as to how many new members the NRA has gotten since all of this started.

Fox ran a report citing an NRA source saying that they have averaged 8000 new members a day since last Friday. Make no mistake, we need far more than that to get to where we should be in terms of representing gun owners. My wife is now an associate member, and I also decided to join SAF and GOA. Contributions to the NRA will continue as per usual.

I only hope that people who think that if the gun banner's get the high cap mags and ARs banned, then they'll be safe with their hunting rifles, shotguns and pistols/revolvers will wise up. Once the camel gets his nose under the side of the tent it's only a matter of time.

This is about all our guns, one class at a time.

"An off duty LEO who was there said his departments lawyer told them NOT to join the NRA because it will make them look like "gun nuts' if they have to use their weapon on duty. He and his fellow officers believe this to be true.

Well, they can certainly buy a membership for a family member or three. I am sure that the NRA wouldn't mind getting some anonymous donations.

Best,
Rick

Joined SAF last night, and GOA tonight.

Does the NRA just release membership numbers every so often, or is there a way for us to keep track?

That's one lawyer's opinion.

Another lawyer might make the argument that the LEO joined to pursue Instructor status and to keep informed about gun development so he could SAFELY handle and CLEAR any guns he encountered in the line of duty. He might be interested in becoming a better marksman so that he could hit a perp if ever involved in a gunfight instead of spraying half of downtown. It would not be hard to find plenty of documentation showing a large volume of LEO gunfire with few, if any hits in some shootouts.
My point is that a good lawyer could argue either side of an issue.
I think LEOs SHOULD join the NRA.
