It's funny how things in life work out (this may be a bit of a long read)

This is definitely gun related, but bear with me. I am usually not one of the luckiest people on the planet, and in my 50 years I have learned to live with being a few minutes too late to miss out on a good deal, being outbid on GB, not having winning luck on a random giveaway, etc., etc. Usually I just chalk my lack of luck to par for the course and move on.

This year (2017) so far has pretty much sucked at work. Just instances of working my tail off, being overlooked in favor of other people that the owner decrees as the "second coming", not being appreciated, never being right, blah blah blah. It's gotten pretty bad. I have my hat in the ring at the county sheriff's department (yep, looking at getting back in a uniform again) to remedy my current work situation, but although I'm next on that list it may be a handful of months. That's ok, I can wait.

I had my eye on a couple GB auctions the past week and of course was outbid lol. On one I put in my max and, last Sunday, was sniped with 5 minutes left in the auction on a gun I really would have liked to have. Have to admit at the time I was furious, but got over it quickly. Found out this morning I lost another auction I was winning with less than a day left, but was pretty sure I would lose that one anyway. Still, was a gun I would have loved to own. No biggie on either one, and I figured well these kinds of things happen for a reason. I found that out today!

My wife had other things going on today so, literally on a whim, I woke up and decided to make the hour south drive to Lexington to visit Bud's Guns. Had nothing going on and it would occupy a decent portion of the morning. After looking around for a few minutes I mosey to the used gun counters, which is the only area I was interested in anyway. Not a lot of revolvers this time, had a 4" 19-4 with a pretty scratched up cylinder, wasn't really interested. I scanned the top shelf and I spied a blued 2.75" Ruger Security Six. Asked to see it, gave it a real good inspection, got a break in the price and it came home with me. I have been looking for one of these for quite some time. Drove home and a peace came over me as if the good Lord in Heaven said I had my fill of (insert expletive(s) here) the past 3 weeks and it's time I got thrown, and richly deserved, a bone. And He really did throw me one, big time.

I would post pics of the Ruger in the other brand firearms section, but my phone got a new system update and I can't upload pics to my computer now, so when I figure that out I'll load some up.

Sorry for the long story here, but it's nice when life throws you a much needed bone to boost your spirits!!

Well, like Grandma Muggins used to say, "Bless your heart . . . " I like the Security Six. Had one years ago and traded it, and always wished I had it back (of course, every gun I've sold or traded I wish I had back . . . )
