It’s so hot out

Even hotter today.
100 on the weather app.
107 on the electronic thermometer.
104 on the old dial thermometer.
I want to go for a motorcycle ride, but I'm gonna wait for it to cool down a few degrees.

Guy died in Death Valley this weekend on a bike ride with his buddies. They suspect heatstroke. It was was so hot that the authorities were unable to send a flight for life helicopter to get him. The rangers say a good Samaritan brought in some of the other riders to the visitor center so they could cool off.

It's summer. Been a bit warmer than usual, but the lack of rain has been bad. I bet since mid April I've not got an inch of rain at my place.

I was 4 miles from home at Home Depot yesterday and it was coming a torrential rain. Got home and bone dry at my place.

They'll be mass storms headed in my direction, and they either dissipate or go north or south of me.

This was earlier today. It drizzled a few minutes.

Yeah, I went for an hour long ride and got home about an hour ago.
My wife told me all about that story.
I don't know for sure but I have to think he must've suffered heatstroke or heat exhaustion while riding.
Either of those could very easily result in a fatal crash.
Definitely something to be aware of and guard against when riding a motorcycle in 100+ degree temperatures!
Fortunately I made it home safe and sound. But after today's ride, I was once again hot enough that the first thing I wanted was a cool shower!

It's cooled off some this week. About a week ago it was 105* with a heat index of 126*. Humidity was around 99%. My swimming pool temp was 96*. It felt like a hot tub but I got in anyway. Today was about 92*, heat index 85*. I can handle that and mowed my grass. This time of the year I stay up late and get up around noon. I don't work outdoors until after 4 p.m., depending on weather. It's nice out after dark and some things I do with the aid of a flashlight. I'm 76 years old and don't want to chance a heat stroke....again.

Yep, went to long time buddy's in St. Augustine for the 4 th. Helped him weld on a MB tub he's fixing and it was HOT. He complained that there had been No Rain there for about a month. It was dry, very dry and we were sort of concerned with all the fireworks being shot around wooded areas.

Here in Arizona, you know it's' really hot when you see lizards carrying sticks in their mouths.

They'll run for a second or two, drop the stick and then jump on it, grabbing it tight so they don't fall off.

When their feet cool off after a while, they'll jump off the stick, pick it up in their mouths again and run quickly.

Rinse and repeat.

My front yard was full of lizards with sticks this morning...
