I carry a Rock River LAR-15 with an Aimpoint Micro - Larue Tactical QD on my personally owned duty patrol rifle. But I've been wanting a "plinking" rifle to go with it. Plus I figured it'd compliment my OD / HD stache of Kahr PM9, Shield 9, Glock 26 and Remington 870 Tactical very nicely. And besides, the doctor was very adamant that due to previous rotator cuff injury / surgery, my wife can't handle the recoil of the 870. At least that's the way I justified it to her. :D

After a couple of weeks of research and looking around, I settled on the Sport. Nothing fancy, basic rifle, yet good quality at a great price. Now, I gotta find one. Since I'm not one to purchase online, my firearm enthusiast son and I started perusing the LGS's in my area. It didn't take long before I came upon a good deal. While my son was walking around the showroom, taking in everything they had to offer, I told the general manager to "make it two". After the deal was consummated and the boxes were laid on the counter, I asked my son to place our rifles in the car. The "deer in the headlights" response was priceless. One of the young sales guys we know was standing nearby and asked my son "Did your dad just buy you a rifle?", and immediately asked to be adopted. My only caveat to the purchase for my son was that a rifle case, extra magazines and ammunition for his rifle are on him. Do you guys think that's fair?

I think if your son is old enough to afford those things then its fair. If not, then its just down right cruel! :)

Good on you! Our kids are the future of our Great Country and if we do not instill respect and admiration for the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment, the Dark Forces in our country and without, will surely see us fall. This "Grand Experiment" is ordained by Providence and needs all of us to protect it.

Our second range visit with the rifles today. He is indeed having an absolute ball with it. I really like shooting mine, but get more joy out of his elation and enthusiasm. A pleasure I hope he'll experience one day with a son of his own.

That's what it is all about! Neither of you will ever be able to sell your Sports.
