Hi I got a new scope for Christmas, it's a field & stream rimfire 4X32 from Dicks sporting goods. I don't really know much about scopes but I do know 4X32 is little much for me but I figured I'd have some fun with it. Problem is I need new scope rings or a mount for it to attach to the rail on the 15-22. it doesn't have to be anything fancy just something at a decent price. Thanks for your help.

How about taking it back to Dick's and telling them you need a set of rings for it? Tell them you are mounting it on a picatinny rail. They should have what you need.

4x32 is a little much? That's pretty much a typical scope for the 15-22 unless all your shooting is indoors at 50 feet.
Weaver Rings

first you need to find out if the scope tube is 30mm or 1", then you need to decide if you what height you want your scope rings. (they must at least allow clearance of the main objective) The rail is picatinny so that's the type you want. You can get away with cheaper ones on a 22LR but I'd stay away from dollar store airsoft rejects... or you could just take it back to Dicks and try a few out.

Scope should have a 1inch tube. As far as height of the rings... most scopes on an AR platform are raised about 1in. 1in rings, 1in tall.

Get one of these they are reasonably cheap and you can take it off quickly if you want to use the iron sights. As for those rings they are not QD because you need a tool of some kind to get them off.

This is likely to be your least expensive option. Walmart carries Weaver brand mounting rings and most stores have a pretty good selection. However, it is Walmart so it's not unusual to find the racks are well picked through and totally disorganized.
What you will want are STANDARD medium rise 1 inch mounting rings. These will fit either a standard Weaver rail or a Picitinny Rail. What you DO NOT WANT are any mounting ring sets that have any mention of 22 caliber in either name or description. The old Weaver 22 caliber mounting dovetail is much narrower than the STANDARD Weaver dovetail and 22 caliber mounts won't fit your rail.
BTW, I just used a set of Weaver See Thru Quad Lock Mounting Rings # 49063 to mount a Nikon 2.5-8X32 EER scope on the forward rail of my Ruger Gunsite. The double bands on each mount were a bit tedious to deal with but the finished assembly will slide off the front of the rail without any difficulty. Another plus is that the See Thru feature allows me to use the Ghost Ring sights on the rifle if I want to. Cost for these rings was under 15 bucks and they give every indication of being quite well made. They are also one of the few products that you'll find at Walmart that are actually Made in the USA.
PS; I haven't stepped inside a Dicks Sporting Goods for over 10 years or so. Because in my area their ammunition and firearms personnel have been rather Dickish. Why shooting skeet is preferable over a good 8 point Buck I don't understand but they can take that "I only shoot clay with an over/under" attitude and SHOVE IT.

Dick's Sporting Goods is on my "black" list too. Way too much BS and very little knowledge about what you really want to know. They just want to make a sale and will tell you anything to try and get it.

Well I guess I am different because the first thing I get is a set of riser blocks that will get the scope up in the air a bit then a set of medium or high rings! This allows me to do 2 things more effectively
1 get my fingers on the charging handle( if the scope sits too low you have a tuff time doing this) and 2 it keeps my head in a more upright position. there is nothing more uncomfortable than haveing to move your head into a contorted position to see through the scope. Risers are inexpensive and when set up it also allows you to remove the scope and riser as a unit quickly. JMO, and good luck with your new scope.

I'm lucky with my eye relief. The scope(s) all sit just far enough infront of the charging handle(s) to still grap. I also hate sitting with my neck all contorted trying to see through the scope.

Guess they loose all my other hunting needs,my fishing (my wife and I fish year round) and ALL our other sporting business too.
So my UTG scope rings came in today and they are the wrong size. The guy at the gun counter at Dicks said I needed 30mm scope rings. He was wrong. That place is a joke.

Didn't the documentation that comes with the scope list the diameter of the scope or say what size rings to get?
Yes, but in the chaos that was Christmas day it got lost, never to be seen again.
I could have measured it myself but I assumed that the guy at Dicks would know the tube sizes for a Dicks Field and Stream brand scope.

As you sadly learned, that's an invalid assumption. Sorry you have had to go through the hassle. I barely trust the information from dedicated gun stores, never from general merchandise "sporting goods" stores.

I liked Dicks before they caved in on our 2nd ammendement. From Soccer to golf and shooting and skate boarding (my son not me) they will not get any of my buisness ever again. But with all the buisness they are losing you might beable to find some ammo there but not by me. But go figure not knowing whaat they should about the stuff they sell doesn't surprise me .
