It is a .38 Military & Police model from the very early 1920s. It does not have Made in U.S.A. on the frame's right side, which puts production before about the spring of 1922. The stocks are correct for the period and likely are original.

One fun thing about this example is the round butt. During the post-WWI period, round butt M&Ps became much less common than square butt units. It also has the 5" barrel, which many of us prefer to the 4" units. The nickel finish appears to be original.

I like your revolver a lot. :)

The convex round top stock design was introduced in 1920. I have a square-butt M&P #384433 that shipped in May, 1921. They can be great shooters, as shown with my 4" shooting at 15 yards.

The stocks are the correct style for the gun, but based on how they don't completely cover the grip frame, those may not be the originals for that particular gun. The condition of the wood just doesn't quite match the overall condition of the gun itself. The stocks originally had the gun's S/N written in pencil on the inside of the right panel, but sometimes the number is difficult or even impossible to read.
