I want ivory grips on my nickel m 36 and nickel m 10. Genuine ivory. I have found 3 sites online. Boone, Nutmeg and another that starts with an E...eline or something like that. Are there other sources for Genuine Elephant Ivory stocks? Thanks all.

I think Ivories would look good on my 15-3 and my 31-1, but the target stocks on the 31-1 feel SO good, and I can't make myself swap out the Magnas on my 15-3.
Maybe I could make or have made, some stocks from holly. It looks more like ivory than fake ivory, and is a LOT cheaper than the real thing. Plus, the power company recently cut down my mom and dad's holly tree and left the trunk.
That would make some nice Magnas and target stocks.
Then again, so would the mahogany or the linen micarta I have.

Only other maker I know of is Don Collins of Collinscrafts.Expect to pay $450+ for the J frames and $550+ for the K frame.
Dan Chesiak still does ivory grips I believe.
Last # I had for him was 203-723-8600 ,,call betw 9a and 5p.
He used to work for Colt and did the Custom shop stuff. I've had a number engraving customers use him for ivory grips (mostly on SAA's) over the years and the work is first rate.

Forget Nutmeg Sports. Jim Alimio only does Colt grips, no S&W. He does do nice work on his Colt stuff.
I would recommend Don Collins for any number of reasons. The best being he's a friend. We had tables next to him for a few years and talked a lot. I also bought a half dozen of his grips. He does good work and I still have a fair number of the ones I bought from him.

Jim Aliamo WILL DO S&W grips but he has priced himself out of the ball game for Smith grips IMHO. He quoted me $850 for one set of J Frame Ivory's 3 months ago.
ALL my Ivory Grips have been done by Dan Chesiak and his prices are about $550 / set. Dan is (at least IMHO) the best at Ivory Grip Making! He actually listens to all your requests and honors them when making your grips - a rarity these days!
IMHO if you are going to have Ivory grips made, you have to send the gun to Grip Maker to have them properly fit. No matter who does them or how much you pay, they will NOT fit perfectly unless they are custom fit to YOUR gun. There are no two guns EXACTLY the same even if they are the same model. When the guns are polished dimensions are all slightly different. Some people might not be as fussy as I am, but I want them to be fit to a gun of mine. I have seen others buy Ivory and Stag grips without having them fit and while they are just OK, they do NOT fit perfectly. If you are able and willing to do the final fitting yourself, then there is no need to send in the gun - just tell the Maker to leave them a touch over sized for you to finish.

Let me clarify my post above..........
I was talking about REVOLVER grips. Auto grips, like for a 1911 will more than likely fit very nicely without fitting. No contours to follow like a REVOLVER. Sorry, I was not more specific above.

Roy Fishpaw in Concord, VA has made quite a few pair of ivory grips for some pretty well known folks. His prices aren't cheap, but not as bad as some of the others I've seen and his work is top drawer. I talked to him a couple of months ago and he said he had a sufficient supply of ivory blanks and pieces of tusks to keep making grips for a while. I've got a couple of pairs of his non-ivory grips, but haven't had a revolver that I could justify the price of ivory for.

I'll second chief38's point about the fit on a revolver.
I've made more than a few sets but always on projects where the gun was ultimetly going to be refinished. So I filed and sanded the ivory right to the frame for a perfect fit.
Making them up to a 'slave frame' may leave you disappointed in their fit on your gun.,,and maybe not. Depends on what you demand.
Even when fitted to the actual gun, depending on the talent of the worker, they may be a bit oversize as they stay away from the metal to avoid marking it up.
Some makers shape them to better looking grips than others. Some leave a lot of material on them. Others take them down to that nice trim feel that's just right in the hand.
Do some research and look at the pictures on the net and pick a maker. Prices , style, completion times are all factors.
Ivory just ain't cheap anymore no matter where you get them.

I know what you are talking about -- I was just commenting on the quality Boone has shown to me -- If I was looking for revolver grips (and I have at least 40 revolvers -- mostly S&W's) I would give them serious consideration
