Can anyone here identify what grips these are exactly and confirm they're actually for a round butt J frame? Came across these and it says they're Hogue Tamers but they look nothing like the tamers or any other Hogues I've seen for J frames. Does Hogue even make a rubber grip without finger grooves for the J's? I'm guessing they're probably something else in the wrong package but they're listed as new.

Those are factory grips for the M&P Bodyguard revolver. Someone probably upgraded their grips and put the originals in the blister pack.

The cross screw at the bottom makes me think those won't work on a conventional J frame.

Smith & Wesson : M&P® BODYGUARD® 38 NO LASER

I wonder I'd they'd fit the 642, I actually wouldn't mind those style grips. They cover the backstrap yet they're still thin.

I never owned an M&P Bodyguard Revolver, but I would say no.
Hogue Tamers are designed to fit on a conventional J frame and the M&P Bodyguard.

S&W Centennial J-Frame (Round Butt) / Polymer Bodyguard 38: OverMolded Rubber Tamer Grip - Black

OEM S&W M&P Bodyguard grips appear to be one piece and slide on from the bottom, with a cross screw at the bottom. A conventional J frame has a grip pin at the bottom of the frame and there's no room for a cross screw.

Thanks! I guess I'll have to continue my search. I'm hoping to find a better set of grips but don't want anything huge. I pocket carry my 642 alot, I like the factory grips but want something that covers the backstrap. I'd really like to try the tamers but they look like they'd be too big to pocket carry. I wish there was something like the factory Ruger LCR grips for the 642, the bantams look close but don't cover the backstrap.
