I LOVE the use of that word... "Roscoes"... I'd love to know the origin of how they became called that because it's just so befitting! I carry a very similar set myself sometimes!

“Roscoe” was used in old gangster/detective stories from the 1920’s and 30’s for handguns, but if it had an earlier origin in slang ... I dunno.

The writer, Dashiell Hammett, created Sam Spade and one of Spade’s lines was "I jammed the roscoe in his button and said, 'Close your yap, bo, or I squirt metal.'"

I just always liked it.

"J" Frame Love

Have you considered carrying one on your left side in case your primary hand/arm is out of action ?

I carry these (2) semi-regularly... NY Reload style... One in my right front pocket in a DeSantis "Nemisis" holster and the other @ 4 O'clock in a Bianchi OWB holster. Both are usually stoked with Buffalo Bore hard cast full wad cutters.

Here is the family photo from several years ago when I went out and bought (4) <new to me> J frames and (1) D frame when I became enamored with them/the concept...

RubEric,
Do you have two of the 3" Model 36 Chiefs Special Target revolvers? Or have you just changed the grips in the two photos?

That revolver was the 2nd Chiefs Special Target that I acquired. It is a very good shooting little J-frame

This one was the duty side arm of a female US Probation Officer that I knew back in the 90s. Then things changed and she had to switch to a 3" Model 13. So she offered me this one for what the trade in value was on it.

It was a great deal and included the original box and everything :)

Colt:

I have only one of the CS Targets and I did indeed change the grips. They are the originals from the Model 60.

No, because the left side is where I carry the Streamlight Pro-Tac2, speed strips, and Kershaw on a clip set-up for cross draw... But maybe I should. I suppose I could cinch my belt more snug by one hole to compensate for the extra weight and carry a 3rd "J frame"... one in my left front pocket in a lefty DeSantis to remedy this hypothetical situation!:D

After looking at all of these pictures, my 642 said it feels lonely and needs a brother or sister to keep it company (only J frame child. Has other bigger siblings that are K, L and N frame).

I was thinking of getting a 637 to make it happy.
