J-Frame love

I carry these (2) semi-regularly... NY Reload style... One in my right front pocket in a DeSantis "Nemisis" holster and the other @ 4 O'clock in a Bianchi OWB holster. Both are usually stoked with Buffalo Bore hard cast full wad cutters.

Here is the family photo from several years ago when I went out and bought (4) <new to me> J frames and (1) D frame when I became enamored with them/the concept...

GREAT picture. :D

I just have two. A 640-1 .357 and a 642-1 +P.

edit: I forgot my 60-14 :o

My 642-1 has been my EDC for over 5 years now.

My brother gave it to me when he retired from LE. It was his backup for several years.

I am a BIG fan of the Chiefs Special and Centennial revolvers

There has been a Smith and Wesson J-frame with me almost every day of my life since 1980. Often it has been a backup to a larger belt holstered firearm. These days a J-frame is mostly my primary firearm

As an instructor, I have a nice stable of J-frames to draw from.

My current favorites are my Performance Center 940 Specials usually I pocket carry one of them when, like Tim Taylor I want MORE POWER, I use my NY Reload holster which allows me to draw with either hand or both simultaneously

Hey Coltsaa,

What models are those J frames with adjustable sights? Pretty cool collection!

I have three of them; 60-15, 637-2, and 642-2.

I often carry the 642 when I feel comfortable with 5 rounds.
I trust it, if I pull the trigger, it goes bang.
I haven't carried the 637 since the hammer hung up on my gym shorts practicing draw.

I think the J-Frame is a great tool, but it's not an object of love (my 29-2 is).

I fell in love with the 640 J frame because if its compactness, its reliability and internal hammer. My wife loves hers because its so simple and easy to operate, just point and click.

Hers are the top and bottom in the pic and the middle one is my pocket carry. I've added a 640-1 since the photo was taken.

Thanks for the kind words

A bit of cheating here since the first one is actually an improved I-frame and not a J-frame. However most folks would not have noticed had I not pointed it out

Starting with the small bores, these are both Model 34s. Usually chambered in 22LR, but I set up the second one for 22Magnum as a convertible

Then we have the blue 38 Special revolvers, a 2" Model 50 Chief Special Target followed by a 3" Model 36 Chief Special Target

Last but not least is a pair of 2" Model 60 Chief Special Targets. The first one spent 1986-1996 in a Galco Ankle Glove. I only switched away from it because the J-Magnums had been released and i wanted "More Power". The second one is the safe queen
