First post, have checkout the forum in the past for research/information. Seems to be a fun place and great source for information on S&W products.

I like the Smith revolvers, especially rimfires!

Have a couple of j-frame questions below!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just picked up a new Model 63 with 5" barrel. These are real nice, light weight but not too light. Changed the slippery black plastic grips for a set of Smith & Wesson J-frame square butt wood grips from a Model 60.

Question 1 -- Does anyone make a base for a J-frame?
I found - Smith Wesson scope mount KLN frame for K/L/N frames (will fit a 617) but no J-frame options.

It would be a nice light pistol to add a Burris Fastfire red dot sight.

Question 2 -- The Model 63 has a black blade front sight. A few I have seen (4" barrel older manufacture?) have the black blade front sight painted orange (same as the large frame .38/.357 have on some). Will the Smith replacement fiber sight fit the new Model 63 (remove the minature drift pin)? I can always use orange paint on the current black blade front sight.

Thanks in advance for your info!

Mike
