J-Frame Pocket Holster

Mine is a Bianchi 158 and works well for me. It ain't fancy but then neither am I.

I had an uncle mikes nylon forever, but it got so one corner was folding under and tried to turn the 642 sideways in my pocket. Replaced it with a Don Hume pocket holster..like the leather holster far better. From what I've read, the Mika holsters are a bit...well padded? Some say they're way to thick, others love them. My best advice..take a look at what kind of pants you generally wear. The pockets aren't all shaped the same, and you may end up getting something that won't fit right, and you'll hate it! Look at the shape and then match that with the pocket holster so it will fit properly!

Mika holsters are far from padded. In fact, I'd say that they are thinner than any other holster shown in this thread, including the nylon ones. He makes them for square and rounded pockets. I've carried my M38 Bodyguard every summer for the last 6 years in a Mika and have never found a reason to look for a different holster. Breaks up the outline of the gun and never leaves the pocket unless you want it to.

I've used Galco leather for quite awhile and am very satisfied with the holster. It covers the trigger, stays in the pocket when the gun is removed and it keeps the weapon in the same spot while not revealing its presence to the outside world.

I second the Galco pocket holster. It keeps my Model 60 properly oriented
and separates from the gun when it should as the gun is presented.

My choice/recommendation is Kramer. You can get lucky on holsters on EBay sometimes. I would check it also.

I hardly ever pocket carry my 642. When I have it was in a DeSantis Nemesis holster. It has worked but I've found it a little on the bulky side for my needs. I might pocket carry more often if I had a slimmer holster available. The leather holster posted by snubbyfan earlier, and a similar design by Bell Charter Oak, have piqued my interest. Kydex is another possibility, but I am concerned it might have too much retention.

However, carrying IWB works really well for me so trying out pocket holsters is a very low priority.

I am with Buford57 and Claudel, I have been using a Galco PH158 for several years, and it has the room to either carry a six shot Colt 'D' farame, of which I have a bunch, or a 'J' frame Smith, of which I also have a bunch. Like to rotate through my collection, and this rig allows me to use the same holster for any of these guns. Fits and conceals well in a pair of jeans, which is my most common attire. The horsehide looks like it will hold up forever, with no appreciable signs of wear after several years of daily use. Highly recommend!!!
