I shot my 940 in low light last week and had a horrible time finding my front sight. Has anyone replaced their front sight on a J-Frame? How did you do it? I'd like to try to get a fiberoptic like on my brother-in-laws 340PD. Does anyone know of such a stubby sight?

Yep, Dave Clements. Do a search and I'm sure you'll find him? He does top shelf work and fast when he did this.

If you use your J frame for SD, I would change it to a Big Dot front sight. You could also have the rear sight channel widened, and the trigger smoothed out a bit. OH YEAH.....almost forgot the Spegel Boot grips. Wood is best for pocket carry.

A target Patridge sight will only tend to get hung up when you draw. I prefer to have a lower ramp sight on fixed sighted revolvers on my SD guns, and a bobbed hamer, to prevent any "hang-ups".

Better yet, is to make the mods I describe above. But.....it does cost $$$$$, so I'm happy with red or white paint on the stock front ramp sight, and to do the rest of the work myself. Bob

I painted the front sight of my 940 with some orange Testors Paint a Couple of years ago..
It's held up realy well BTW..
I don't think the 940s front sight is removeable, I've never seen a pin for it's removal, I believe it's intregal to the barrel..
Also If you ever want to sell the gun the paint removes easily with Acetone..
Here's a Pic I took of the front Sight..
Enjoy!!

A fiber optic sight probably won't help you much in reduced light. It needs a light source to make it show up.

XS sight systems makes the "Big Dot" and a standard sized front sight with a tritium insert that works well for "combat" situations but not so well for longer range accurate fire.

Just bought some LG-405 grips for my 642 today. Any suggestions on sighting them in for best accuracy? Have not taken revolver to the range yet. Thanks
