Hey Folks, I just came up from my Holster vault, & am trying to determine exactly which Model this Holster was produced for ? It's your basic Black leather Audley type Duty Holster, & appears to be circa 1960-1970's or so. I had in the same box along with my 4" Bbl'd Colt O.P.'s, but I'm not convinced it was intended for them ? Jay-Pee made it simple by simply stamping their similar models as; 'O.P. 4', which was of course fine. Bucheimer on the other hand chose to utilize a chart type numbering system, which if you're not fortunate enough to possess the requisite Fit Chart, well you have to resort to guessing ? I did of course look into the Fit Chart we have here, but I couldn't locate any Code # of 188 - 56 which is my Holsters particular Model Number. Sooooo, does anyone here happen to know which Revolver that particular # was intended for ? THANK YOU !!

Best, Dom P.

The J.M. Bucheimer people had an identity disorder it seems and their numbering systems varied by holster model and by era. The 188 appears in its 1971 catalog but is gone by its 1976 catalog; in the former case the -56 fitment is not listed. But in other models that number is the Python frame in 6".

THANKS AGAIN Red, Very much appreciated !! I truly wish I could recall 'why' I bought it, as I simply can't remember ! I guess it's time to engage in some creative assessment, as in matching up length against holster I'm sure of their size. I'll find out if is something other than a 4", as when I think about it, it did appear a bit longer than usual ? I'll report back just for the record. One interesting & seemingly quality installment is the fact that the actual portion of the Audrey lock appears to be of brass, not white aluminum as is the balance of the locking mechanism. They apparently took the time to ensure the weapon wasn't unduly damaged when snapped in & unsnapped back out !

Best, Dom

‘AAAHAA’ !!! I knew at least one of us amongst us had have the information around somewhere !!! I don’t remember if I initially mentioned it, but when compared against my 4” Duty Rigs, this # 188-56 truly did appear a bit too long when compared to the others, & now I know why !! All I can think of is years ago when still hunting up in Maine’s Allegash I must have bought it to carry my Colt 6” Model ‘.357 Magnum’, simply as a backup of sorts. I’ve long since parted with the Colt, but I apparently must have kept the Holster. THANK YOU very much, I truly appreciate it !!

Best, Dom P.
