I like scotch as much as american whiskeys, and buy the occasional bottle. But calling a good quality american whiskey crap is ridiculous (of course, I'm assuming you're just kidding those of us with different taste)

. I would buy whisky made in Scotland as much as that made in America, but but for the price and I prefer to buy products made in the United States.

Ya know, it's so refreshing to talk about honest to goodness real man brown spirits instead of something pantywaist like a cosmopolitan or one of those fruiti-tini's or whatever the drink de jour in manhattan is.
To paraphrase the beer commercial-"Don't fruit the whiskey!!!!!!!!!"

So, Caje, whatcha having? Aren't you batchin'?
Brown spirits it is for me also, but the crown.

And don't peruse Gunbroker

Ya still looking for that nickel 3.5"?
By ALL MEANS, do absolutely NOT type in gunboker instead of Gunbroker...this caused major, major problems on our computer with malware, intrusions, etc. I had run CCleaner and it deleted all my URL's...not paying attention, I hit enter on the "boker"

DON'T DO WHAT I DID
just a heads up...

When I get home I plan on going to Knob Creek, and I will also be visiting with my friend Booker. My wife will also probably make me associate with her hoity toity French friends wih the funny sounding names. Her really best friend is Courvoisieur. Try saying that three times real fast after a few.

A reference to the old SNL skit "All Things Scottish" that Mike Myers did. Here's a youtube

While I prefer single malt, I also keep Elijah 18 and McKenna Single Barrel (which despite the the correct sounding name, is nae scottish!

Evan, for sure.

While I believe that distilled spirits should be drunk for effect, not for their flavor, I do notice differences. Jack was my favorite for a long time, until I discovered that Jameson's was kosher. Jewish lawyers, German optics, English double rifles. So to what nationality should you look when drinking? I thought that Jameson's Irish whiskey was the answer. However, the very first clause in this paragraph was in mind when someone on this board recommended Evan. I gave it a try, and I like it better than Jack or John, either one. I have also demonstrated its superiority to other folks. The low price is really just a side benefit. I'm certainly not enough of a snob to pay more for booze that I like less.

While I much prefer makers, it is not something I can afford on a regular basis. So I typically just walk over to the whiskey section of the store and look for the orange sales tags on the shelf. A good part of the time it is the Evans that is one sale, which is nice because it is typically the lower regular price as well.

Btw, my sister in-law just gave me a bottle of Jameson Irish Whiskey for my birthday, I've heard of Jameson before but have never purchased any. Guess I'll just have to see if it is any good.

Nothing quite like a Single Barrel Jack with a nice stogie! Just a nice sippin' whiskey that really stands up to ice. Gentleman Jack is my go-to if the Single Barrel runs out, and the Old No. 7 is nice when funds are low.
