Jake My Best Friend

What a handsome dog! The light in his eyes and the alertness in his ears tells me everything about the way he felt about his life with you. You and he gave each other three really good years. I know the loss is painful and will never go away, but the pain is testimony to what a fine companion he was. You did well by Jake, and I can tell by your sadness that he did well by you.

i am reminded of something that president Harry Truman once said if you want a friend get a dog. An it is very plain to see that jake was a very good friend to you. an you a good friend to Jake as well.

What a gorgeous little guy! So sorry about the loss and pain. Many of us here know it well and ache a little along with you.

I adopted one older dog, not as old as your Jake, but this guy was a Saint Bernard and you know going in they do not live a long life. Like every other dog in my life, "He was the best dog I ever had." ;) (You dog guys know what I mean. They are all that way.)

Anyway, we got along well with him from day one and loved him every minute. I really don't think there is much of a downside to adopting adult dogs - just missing the fun part of the puppy years. It's a trade off for missing the work of those years! :p

I'm sure Jake is waiting for you beyond the Rainbow Bridge. Thank you for taking good care of him those last few years, when he really needed you.
