My Condolances,It take a special person to get a dog when they're older.
Bless you and Jake

What a sweet dog and and he looks so happy that you made his last years his best.

I am sure his last years were his best years thanks to you.
Hang in there. The hurt will go away in time.

When you are ready, there is another dog out there that needs a job taking care of a human in need of love.

I’m very sorry, Jake was a handsome dog and he sure looked happy. I know how much it hurts to lose a friend like that, but you can take comfort in knowing you gave him a good life. God bless.

I'm very sorry for your loss, I know how painful this is, and the funny thing is, experiance doesn't seem to make it easier (I know, I've buried a few myself)

I'm Still Here

Friend, please don't mourn for me
I'm still here, though you don't see.
I'm right by your side each night and day
and within your heart I long to stay.

My body is gone but I'm always near.
I'm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I'll never depart
as long as you keep me alive in your heart.

I'll never wander out of your sight-
I'm the brightest star on a summer night.
I'll never be beyond your reach-
I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.

I'm the colorful leaves when fall comes around
and the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.

I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
and you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.

When you start thinking there's no one to love you,
you can talk to me through the Lord above you.
I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
and you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.

I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep
and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I'm the smile you see on a baby's face.
Just look for me, friend, I'm everyplace!

Sorry to hear this. As others have said, it takes a special person to adopt a dog of advanced age, knowing there may only be a couple of years together. He was lucky to find you those last few years.

What beautiful dog, and he sure looks happy, too!

Thank you for adopting an older dog, and making his last few years so good for him.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Our pets add so much to out lives, and they never, ever, live long enough, even if you get them as puppy or a kitten. :(

I hope when the pain subsides, you will rescue another wonderful dog from a cage in a shelter, somewhere.;)

Hate to hear about your loss, but thinks of all of the good time you have had. We have a jack russell that is like a son to us and the clock is running and it will kill me when it stops.

Please accept my condolences. My prayer is that he finds the Rainbow Bridge quickly.

My sincere sympathies. Jake was a beautiful guy! Two years ago I also adopted a senior. A tweenie Doxie with health issues. But it's a satisfying feeling seeing them happy and loved in their last years. Jake will wait for you at the Rainbow Bridge. God bless.

you have my condolences losing a beloved pet is very painful in fact your situation reminds me of an old poem from world war 2 about a marine but with a little careful rewording i shall put it to use to honor your beloved jake, if you don't mind. An when he goes to heaven to saint peter he will tell another dog reporting sir i have served my master well!

I avoided opening this thread for some time knowing what I'd find. So sorry for the loss. We have a 15 year old Min-Pin that is going to leave a huge hole in our little family when he goes soon. Tough to contemplate letting go. Our sympathies.
