Jeppo's chasing a 52!

. I cab't remember if it was Sevens or not that said it , but I think he did . "The 52 was the start of the PC era."

I will clarify this if it is being attributed to me. 🤣

Roy Jinks has said in a factory letter that one of the first tasks of the newly assembled Performance Center team was to finish up the final run of S&W Model 52-2 pistols.

If you look at the final date of production for the last Model 52 (which allegedly resides in the S&W vault), it's early summer 1993. This coincides well with known dates of some of the early PC pistols… that being 1992 for the early models (after the bespoke, full order customs that we virtually NEVER see or hear about.)

So the origin of the idea that the PC was involved with the last of the Model 52-2 pistols might sound like a reasonable assumption but rather than that, the information comes from Roy Jinks. If memory serves me well, he wrote this information in a factory letter for a PC 952 pistol… a gun that was first produced in the year 2000 I think.

Being a M39 addict for 40 years I never chased after M52's but finally got the bug after reading about what a great and accurate gun they are. I jumped right in with both feet and got a nice 52 and a 52A. I'm currently chasing after a 52-2 then a 52-1 is next. At that point a side by side comparison at the range will be required to see which one has the best accuracy. Going to need a fresh supply of 148gr WC to make this happen.
HOLD THE PHONE!

You got 52-A?

The S&W Model 52-A is not daily conversation around here. The 52-A is not daily conversation anywhere on this planet actually.

Have you shot the 52-A?

Would you mind sharing where you found a 52-A or how much it cost to bring one home?

Sevens,
I was just getting ready for bed when I saw this post. I have not shot the gun as it is LNIB. I bought it from the original owner who is a huge S&W collector. He kept it in his safe all these years and I bought it from him this past June at the annual SWCA Symposium. I don't like to mention prices but suffice it to say that I could have bought 5 or 6 model 39's for what I paid. To do it justice, I will post a separate tread in the next few days with information and pictures.
