Dog229 here,
Asking about the Jerry M. wood grips for maybe using on my 986 9mm i have been using. I am using the Hogue rubber fingerless conv. grips and would like a little more slippery feeling with my large hands. If i do change where is the best place and cost to go to and is these grips worth it or something better out there?
Thanks for any opinions

I can't really think of anything better. I have gotten JM grips from Hogue. Not cheap but reasonable. Some other grips I have tried and liked are from Badger Grips. You might see something they have that you like also.
I agree wholeheartedly on the BMT Moonclip loaders. I have them in 8 shot 357, 5 shot 357 and 6 shot 45.

I shoot IDPA w/ my 625 JM and M15, and USPSA with a 627 Pro. All have the JM grips. Fit my hand well & enable manipulation of the gun rapidly during reloading, ect.
I'm happy with them, but use for competition only. For carry, they are too large for my taste.
If you were near me, I'd let you give them a try, but alas, you are on the Midwest.

I like them, especially on my N Frames with the 4" barrels. I can handle the recoil of full power .357 Magnum loads at IDPA matches if the round count is not too high.

My biggest complaint is the inconsistency of the mounting screws. They are not interchangeable among the three Miculek grips I have. They also tend to shoot loose quickly. I'm not a fan of the bottom mount system and I'd prefer these be made in the traditional "halves" so that I can shorten the bottom of the grips as necessary.

I don't know who sells these cheapest. In my opinion they are way overpriced. Last set I obtained was given to me for free by a shooter who hated them.

My opinion is that grips are as personal as individuals are different. The only way to know is to try them yourself. Only when actually shooting can I tell if the grips suits me. Feeling it in my hand at a gun shop etc. really doesn't work for me.

The Miculek's, for me, like ALL wooden/nylon grips, wear a hole in the skin in the web of my hand at the base of my thumb.

I have small hands and actually did the opposite of Dog229. Sold my Miculek grips and bought the Hogue smooth rubber fingergrooveless conversion grips. I love them and use them on my K,L and N frame 4" barreled open carry holster guns. I've found them to be the best grips for me for fast draw use.

No more missing skin.
