Has anyone put a Jewell trigger into one of these rifles? If so, did it require fitting? Did it work as designed? Was it worth the money? I can hardly keep myself from buying one of these triggers long enough to do the prudent research on them but I am trying to keep from jumping the gun. A little help?!

its up to you...

but I wouldn't waste the money on an after market expense trigger group to put in a gun that its going to benefit much from it. The trigger will certainly help with overall accuracy but the 15-22 isn't a tack driver and never will be. It is meant to be a fun cheap gun to shoot all day long. The jewel is a quality trigger group but for the money I would put it in an AR15 not the 15-22. If you want to experiment without spending alot of money I would suggest trying the jp enterprise yellow spring set. They are like $10 from MidwayUSA and are advertised to reduce the overall weight of trigger pull by a few pounds.

My 15 22 is the most accurate shooting .22 i own. I'll take it over a 10/22 any day. Last weekend we were shooting bottle caps until we couldn't see them anymore with the red dot, and it out shot the scope mounted 10/22 at 75-100 yrds on 3 inch targets. This gun is BA!

I am past the point in life where I make many decisions based on cost. I can afford it. I just need to know if they work in these guns. I know the guns are about fun. Good triggers are fun to me, even on a rubber band gun! Has anyone put one of these units in a 15-22?
Thanks.

The 15 minute trigger job and/or replacement reduced weight springs can do wonders on the 15-22 trigger pull. The only reason I would consider putting a high performance trigger group in the 15-22 is if I planned to move it over to an AR15 when I eventually buy one. But to each their own... If I had unlimited funds, I'd probably install one simply because because I could and I'll usually do anything I can to improve accuracy.

As for comparisons between the 15-22 and 10/22's I suppose people's experiences can vary but you have to keep a few things in mind. Are you comparing a stock 15-22 to a stock 10/22? If so then the 15-22 likely wins hands down in the fun category. You could probably argue about accuracy between the two. But unless we start getting high end aftermarket barrels and parts for the 15-22 it will never be more accurate than a good customized 10/22 simply because those parts are available to that platform. My 15-22 is a lot more fun to shoot than my custom built 10/22 but can't come anywhere close to its accuracy. Just my two cents.

I too would like to see your video of that so if you make one be sure to let us know!!

It should install in the lower with no issues. My concern is the notched hammer. The firing pin rides a little higher in the bolt than a standard AR bolt. It's possible that the hammer will not get a solid strike on the firing pin. It's one of those "it may work fine, it may not" things.

I didn't put a Jewel in mine but I did put a JP trigger group in mine and it fit just like they do in my Bushmaster .223. I have to disagree with people about putting a good trigger in a 15-22. This gun will probably be shot more than any of the .223AR's you have so why not put a good trigger in it? Same thing for a decent scope on it.

FYI I did the "15 minute trigger job" on 15-22 first and while it did inprove the trigger it still didn't get it to my satisfaction.

RRA two stage match trigger group.

Following on this thread I would like to know if anyone has put a Rock River Arms two stage trigger in the 15-22? I have three AR15's that I have built and all of them have this trigger and I really like it. I want to put one on the 15-22 but only if there are no problems with it. Thanks.

I can't speak specifically on the Jewell, but I've tried a Chip McCormick drop in, a JP trigger, and the Rock River two-stage. All worked and were a big improvement over the factory mil-spec trigger. The McCormick had a notched hammer and seemed to hit the firing pin fine.

Thanks JRD,

Good to know. Did I mention that this was my son's gun and that I have already spent more in add-ons and upgrades then the gun cost! :D

I am new to the Forum. I wanted to say hello to everyone. You were wondering about a Jewell trigger. I had put a Timney in mine and it breaks at 2 1/2 pounds. Snow is melting here so I did not get to do alot of shooting with the 15-22 as much as I want.

I sighted it in at 48 yeard(rangefinder)using a Caldwell Led Sled. Optics is a Burris Compact 4-12. I shot a 3 rounds. 2 touched and the other round was Approx. 1/4 an inch from the other two rounds.

Stay tuned for further testing....

Good test and great group... keep us informed..

Welcome to the forum and the disorder

in that case, buy me one and I'll try it out and report back to ya.:D

I have the ArmaLite and Rock River 2-stage triggers in three AR15s. I removed one of them and put it in the M&P 15-22. Shoots wonderfully.

But before spending $120 on a $400 rifle I tried the "15 Minute AR15 Trigger Job." Cut the right leg off the hammer spring and bent the trigger springs. Another great trigger pull and reliable ignition for over 1000 rounds to date. As good as the two-stage? Nope. But not $120 either.
