I agree, especially about Operation Eagle Claw....

I have taught my kids about the Chalk River Incident and Carter’s moderating influence after Three Mile Island. The man did not lack for personal courage.

Carter volunteered for the Pig Boats following his graduating from Annapolis. He volunteered for the Navy during the Second World War and took a dangerous duty.

While I didn’t agree with many policies, I also acknowledge he tried his best with the Iranian hostages, including authorizing one of the most daring and crazy commando raids in history. Operation Eagle Claw failed, but not for the lack of courage from the President and every man on the mission.

Nice remembrance of the tragedy in Iran.

The rescue debacle was NOT his fault, but he was in charge so it landed on him. If the mission had been a success he would have been a hero in (most) everybody's mind.
