I picked up a snub-nosed model 66 last week and it came with a pretty nice holster. It is stamped with what I think says, "Maker Joe Pete". Does anyone know anything about this maker. I haven't been able to find any info about him.

This is the only photo I currently have of the holster. I can add one showing the makers mark later.

Never seen that maker but I like it a lot, does it say where it's made.66 looks nice to. bet it looks good in the holster also. Care to say what you had to give for it. With that holster you probably got a bargain................................................M*

I don't think the holster is stamped other than the markers mark, but I will check later. The real negative to the holster is that it is for a left handed carrier, which I am not , so, it might become available at some point. For now, it looks good in photos. ☺️

The 66 is nice. It's not the tightest revolver I have, but it is within tolerances and I think I can help it a little. I cleaned it up and eventually I want to swap the target trigger the PO had installed back the correct trigger.

With all that said, I'm into it less than $600. I think that's a win.

Yes, you did very well on price, is it a no dash or dash -1 I have a -1 that looks just like yours, T-grip an all, except mine has Sambar Stag on it, Also I happen to be left-handed, would be interested if you decided to part with it...Also if you can take a picture of the holster with the gun in it...............................................M*

It's a no dash and dates to '75. I am happy with Magna's for now, although I'd like to have a better set.

I'll post some more photos tonight.

Holster may have been made by an individual and not a company, and has his own stamp. Did you happen to ask the seller anything about the holster. also does it have an open toe at the bottom or sewn closed...................................M*

The vintage stamping style and two-gun Pete logo suggest a recent SASS cowboy holster maker.

The revolver came from an estate and was on consignment, so there is little information about it.

I agree it probably came from a small maker.

It has an open toe.

The estate includes a few SAAs. That might support a SASS tie in...

I would think a SASS holster maker would make mostly western holsters, instead of that type of holster intended for a more modern gun, but who knows.......................................M*

The border pattern is 'rolled' in vs hand stamped, so more typical of old west saddlers than has been done for holsters since the '60s. The gold hot stamping does suggest it is far more recent than that.
