Good evening, I just received a letter signed by Don Mundell confirming my 25-2 .45 ACP was in fact shipped to the John Jovino company On July 1983.This was purchased from Jim Read over at Diamond firearms before he retired about ten years ago and it has sat in the safe since that time.
At this point in my life I realize I am more of a shooter and not a collector so I will look to price this fairly and let it go.
I have pictures and a copy of the letter from Don, just not able to figure out how to post on this thread.
I realize I am not a regular on this forum but would very much appreciate some insight from the more knowledgable here.
Thanks in advance
Steve

Well, good pix and historical documentation for that revolver will help. You might find some older sales in the for sale/trade forum. While I think they are neat, I am not in the market for your Jovino.

If he did custom work to the revolver then there would be added value to the right buyer but if it just went through his FFL then there would be no added value. Unless it was a rare configured special order to his shop only.

Is it "just a 25-2", or an Effector; and if an Effector, which sub-type? Makes a difference - posting some pics will be a big help.

How long is the barrel? (measured from the cylinder face)

Is there a crane lock added? (ball bearing on end of barrel shroud)

I would say that is a Jovino Effector of the first type, with 2.5” barrel and crane lock. Very cool gun!

(Second type was usually 3” and kept the stock front lock, no crane lock.)

Can’t help you on value but searching using “Jovino” and “Effector” should bring more info.

I am familiar with Jovino's guns. I had a 3 inch 629 Effector at one time. I have not seen many of them for sale . 1500.00 + would be my guess on its value.

Jovino and the gang knew what they were doing for sure. Great gun. Their work from days gone by is legendary. They could turn a lowly Astra .44 mag into a great gun with the Terminator. Great action job, barrel cut, and really nice rebluing.

Barrel is 2.5" with Crane lock...I will have pictures posted by days end to show more detail or I can text or email sooner if asked.

Your photo shows you measuring from the frame edge, NOT the cylinder. Push that tape up against the face of the cylinder and you might find your barrel is actually closer to 2 3/4".
