Jpoint for my Shield

Interesting sight option. Electronic sights are common on handguns these days and the Shield is pretty versatile. I'm guessing but I think a lot of folks with aging eyes would find this type of sight easier to use than iron sights. Also wonder if it helps in low light situations.

I know that the Swedish AimPoint is a fantastic innovation. I shot highpower rifle competition with iron sight for many years. I only had to try the Aimpoint mounted on an AR-15 one time to know I wanted to get that combination for myself. Nice to see some new stuff, good post.

Thanks for the encouragement. I suffer from old eyes. I can't see the target without my glasses, and I can't see the sights with glasses on. The reflex fixes that quite nicely. I've been shooting my range gun with a Trijicon RM08g for a couple of thousand rounds now and I'm getting used to the new sight picture. The Jpoint glows quite nicely and is very visible in low light. I have Fiber Optic/tritium night sight on the gun now, but I may go back to the factory fiber optic only. I have been told that some people find the night sights distracting, he actually recomended blacked out sights for some people. We'll see if it is an issue for me. I don't even notice the iron sights o my range gun, so it may not be an issue at all.

I'm looking forward to getting my slide back from the milling, and get the sight on there and to the range.

... the nay sayers keep proving they have no idea what they are talking about.

Indeed they do!

M&P40 PC Ported with Trijicon RM07. About three thousand flawless functioning rounds rounds through it and carried hundreds of hours in the Comp-Tac Flatline.

I now no longer even look at or consider buying guns for "off the farm" carry as this rig is FOR ME the cat's meow (although a Commander size 1911 with a RM07 would be great).

I did buy a pre-rail 455TSW last month but it is strictly a range fun gun.

The "internet tactical experts" have told me how "no knowledgeable person would carry a ported or red dot pistol" even though they have absolutely no real experience with either.

I actually have a JPoint sitting 8 MOA sitting in the cabinet and I'm looking forward to seeing your completed project.

I don't have much experience with these reflex sights, but the idea is somewhat intriguing.

This kind of set up may not be as far fetched for everyday carry as it might seem to some at first glance. I know a plain clothes narcotics cop who carries concealed a reflex sighted Glock all the time. He swears by the set up.

I'm interested in your project and hope you will continue to update the thread. And hopefully the conversation can go on without the rancor we've seen here.

thank you, apology accepted.

Glad you guys got that sorted out. I appreciate the exchange of information and opinions. And certainly don't need agree to with them all!!

There sure is a lot of testiness and bad vibes in this thread. That said, I like the OP's logic of why he wants the RDS. I'm kinda in the same boat - I can see the target, or the sights, but not both at the same time. I haven't picked up a Shield yet. I'm holding out, now that 2.0 is announced, for S&W to update the Shield to 2.0. Haven't seen any vibes on the internets yet, but I'm guessing they will.

You came on here for encouragement and validation. Open forums and especially gun forums are not usually "safe spaces". Did you really post on here thinking everyone would be agree with you and pat you on the back? Why would you even post on a forum if you can't accept differing opinions? Very sad, especially from an elder, very sad.
