hi folks

listen... i know this is probably a question that's been discussed before but i looked through past discussions and couldn't find anybody talking about preferences between the two. i see lots of guys have the jpoint and like it, but couldn't find much on the RMR. unfortunately i've never seen either one on a gun nor have i ever seen a jpoint at all. i did see a RMR once in a store but it didn't even have a battery in it and the store told me they didn't have any mounts for it. so i'm not familiar with either. i'd like to put one on a 629 and also a benelli m2. big difference i see right off is the jpoint is quite a bit cheaper and while i'm not looking for the cheapest i would like to get good value for my dollar. from what i've been able to find out they're both supposed to be pretty good sights but i wondered if anybody had some experience and could steer me to one over the other. or just say that they're both good sights and it doesn't matter much which one i'd chose.... trijicom is easy to call but i've never gotten jp to answer the phone. did send them an email and got an answer. curious what the warrantys are like. the rmr says lifetime but i found nothing on the jpoint. kinda got the feeling that if i can't get them to answer to see about buying it would only be worse if i had a warranty issue.....

so if anybody doesn't mind giving me whatever info on a probably beat to death subject i've appreciate it. i know there are others out there but these two seem to have the mounting plates i need. doctor i thought was supposed to be a good sight, but it seems like everybody other than the importer is dropping them and the importer says they're only gonna honor warrantys if you buy from them and say any other sight would have to be sent back to germany. that seems like it could be a problem.

again, thanks for any opinions. i'd like to order one this week. it seems like a lot of members seem to like their jpoints and one thing thats a good reccomendation is i've seen several people say they'd like to buy a used one but nobody that has one ever wants to sell. if i could only get them to answer the phone... :(

I had a JPoint that I used on a Keltec PLR-16 5.56 pistol and piggy backed on a scoped AR-15. It worked well and never gave me any trouble but they are not very heavily built, I used a metal mount that had "ears" that protected the sight in case the weapon was dropped. It was accurate and always worked but it was because of the light duty construction that I sold it.

Currently I have two Trijicon RMR02s mounted on a FNP45 Tactical and a FNS9. In contrast to the JPoint the Trijicons are very ruggedly built (think miniature ACOG) and clearly made to take a beating. Both of them have been reliable and hold their zeros. The FNP45T is my duty gun and I've been carrying it with the red dot on it since late spring and it has gotten banged around a bit but so far no troubles. The dots are clear/sharp and the internal light sensor adjusts the dot intensity automatically and works very well.

Price wise I think that the Trijicon sights are worth the extra money for the ruggedness and the warranty. I bought one of mine from Slim's Tactical, they have the best price around at $430 + shipping. I've read good things about the Leupold Deltapoint sights and have considered trying one but haven't gotten around to it. I think they're priced between the JPoints and the Trijicons, that might be something for you to consider.

Hope this helps!
