Today I just went straight up to the range from the gun shop. I used the 25 yard side, for better privacy. I never shot this model. I am impressed by my results. Actually more surprised. The gun is like the M 36 size, as far as dimensions, only Ruger uses bigger everything. This target started out with the Charter Arms “hammerless” I also bought today. Correction…I bought the Ruger two days ago. Anyhow I was surprised at these little revolvers. Definitely not cheap Saturday night specials. They are accurate for what they are.

I’ve got three Ruger SP101’s, a .357. 9mm, and a .22LR (4.2”). I’ve come a long way, I believe Ruger builds some of the finest revolvers in the World, both SA & DA.

Got an early 90's SP101 in .357. Every time I get the hankering for a Kimber snub nose, I handle the Ruger and the feeling goes away. Great under appreciated little guns. Love the little J frame .38s and have two of them both airweights, but for a steel frame to shoot magnums-Ruger hands down

I had one I bought in 2008. Quickly lost it to my wife after I got some custom ironwood grip inserts for it.

We shot a bunch of 357 out of it through the years, and the trigger started to bind up. Sent it to Ruger a few years ago. They had it for just over a week including shipping time. They replaced the hammer dog and a couple other things to it, cleaned it and returned it to me looking brand new. Free of charge.

Very happy with the purchase.

I bought a standard 2.25in .357Mag last fall as a winter project after watching the M*Carbo spring kit installation/fluff & buff video. The little SP101 tank didn't have a bad trigger when it started but I could feel several hitches in the pull and some drag. I bought the M*Carbo spring/shim kit and took an afternoon going through the action with the video. The little tank is a wonder now with a significantly improved trigger action and the added weight makes firing even 158gr .357 Magnums tolerable.

I'm a big fan of the .357 SP101.

I used to have four SP101s, but got rid of the three I had in 357. I really liked them, but I felt the comparable J-Frames managed recoil better. I'm talking about the Model 60 in 357 and 649 and 640 also in 357. I kept the 3" SP101 in 327 Federal Magnum. It gives me a wide range of ammo choices.
