Been looking for one of these for a bit. Found one locally through a private seller. Looks good, I think I did OK price wise for a no dash.

Beautiful revolver. Picked up my 1984 no dash last week and shot it for the first time over the weekend. Hit a little high at first, but a couple of quick adjustments got it dialed in with .38 and .357. Love the 586!

What did you wind up paying if you don't mind me asking? Not a ton of sold listings to compare to

Same as you, but had sales tax. Located at a local store that deals in used firearms.

Makes sense. I had a 35 transfer fee also so I guess it wasn't "out the door" but it kind of was

I have a 686 no dash....

Yours looks nice and mine has the Hogue grips instead of the wood, but I'm more into shooting than aesthetics. dMine oes need a good cleaning, though.:D

Are you going to check out the 'M' modification? I had mine done but I'm not sure it made a lot of difference.

Can't say I know what that is but feel free to enlighten me

Nice early 586, bet it has an AA serial prefix.
You can do a Google search about the 586 "M" mod, the early guns could lock up due to "soft primer flowback" on a certain brand of ammo, the factory solution was to change the hammer nose bushing under warranty.
In years past people reported when SW had the gun there for the mod they would also bring the action up to factory spec.
If this is still true I'd wait till you ever either have an issue or want a free upgrade and tuneup.

Well I called and the girl told me they were going to replace the cylinder and I don't think I want that or the bluing would never match. I'd be scared they'd replace it or it would be noticeable

Nice deal. I have two 586's in 4" and 6". Beautiful and strong. Only blinks once at 125 gr. factory loads. A dream with my 158 SWC handloads.

Used to have a 6" 686-3 It was accurate as well. Now a 586 4" no dash, and a 686-6 Pro Series are left. Bob

The early 586 no dash guns, like my AAC prefix 4", have the trademark on the side plate. Don't know when during the no dash run that the small trademark migrated over to the thumb piece side. Our department bought 100 586 guns in the early '80's, I bought mine back from the distributor when we transitioned to Glock 17's around 1989. I paid around $145.00 then IIRC.

Think she gave you bad info, the hammer nose bushing is pressed into the recoil shield has nothing to do with the cylinder.
