I just filed a complaint with the BBB over the restriction of the sear and or sear block assembly. I work in the manufacturing industry and would not every think about not letting a customer buying a needed part.
I believe everybody that has needed a sear assembly and S&W refused to sell the part to them should file a complaint with the BBB and whoever else will listen.

I suspect that's not going to have much effect, but hope that it makes you feel a little better about the situation. Hang in there.

I think you may have it wrong. It's not that they won't sell it to you, they certainly will. They just require that it be factory installed. There are other gun parts, not just the sear, that fall into the "factory-install only" category.

Actually, it sounds perfectly reasonable to me, depending on certain factors such as the need to hand fit, check tolerances, assure proper installation, AND liability etc.
 
If you've got a problem with that, I suggest that you never try to do business with Browning.

Browning won't even sell customers new wood for their O/Us because they need final fitting. They will, however, sell them to an FFL which amazes me. I've never figured out how getting a FFL would turn someone into a fine woodworker.

I suggest you contact Colt, Charter, Ruger and all other revolver manufacturers to see if they will sell the part you desire. If so, buy one of their revolvers.

If a company does not wish to sell any particular part, that is the right of the company.

Naturally, it is your right to not do business with them.

Good luck with another brand of revolver.
 
Not unusual at all to be unable to acquire new parts in the fire control group.

...of any company's firearm.

Might be something to it if they sold the part for $$ and then wanted to charge you $$$ to install it.
 
Most firearms companies sell parts to the public, but not all parts. They usually indicate that these parts are to be fitted by the factory only or in rare cases by a gunsmith.
 
I just filed a complaint with the Federal Election Board regarding the results of the last election.

The two of us should see positive results at about the same time.

That's not true, the BBB exists to listen to the consumer, and even to ask for ever increasing quantities of information and explanation, the purpose being delay. It is a company owned and operated by businesses solely for the purpose of providing a lightning rod for unhappy consumers, thereby preventing them from doing anything that's really effective (like filing suit under their state's consumer protection statutes). The longer the BBB can keep a consumer balled up in distractions, the better, as far as they're concerned. Even if the BBB resolves the matter in the consumer's favor, all that happened is delay and fooling the consumer into thinking he's actually done something.
 
Don't get me started on the BBB! If you are waiting on those morons to "resolve" any problems, you are going to be sorely disappointed.
 
Don't waste your time, get on the phone with Brownell's, tell them what you need and they will be more than happy to help you get it taken care of and be appreciative and charge a fair price for it. You will not ever get that from S&W.
 
Might as well add GLOCK (who won't sell frames or slides) and Springfield (who won't sell XD strikers).

BTW, try Brownells. I bought a barrel from them that S&W listed as "authorized service center only."

Your response is very lucid, obviously well thought out, and informative. But I like the one about the dog better.
