At the unholy auction this early November, someone rises may hand up, when they offer this brandnew Model 59 for ca. US$ 420.--
I really don't need that pistol for my collection, because I got already the Model 39, 52, and 41. So the fact, that the Model 59 has a
doublestack magazine is not that big, that I will win a discussion with Swisswife. But, like I said before, someone else put my hand up.... ;)

After I picked it up yesterday we drove to the shooting-range. For a real fair accuracy-check it is necessary to use the best ammo.
And this is the Swiss-Army 9mm Luger. ...What else...:D. I've set the target at 10 meters first and the first round hit the 10 almost
perfect. POA was POI. I got some feeding-problems first, but after 10 rounds the well-oiled gun start to work perfect. The trigger is
very good. And I expect some more hits in the 10, if I got more practicetime with the Model 59.
What I will change.........? I will look for a pair of wooden grip-panels.

Here's the gun how I picked it up

Swissman I'm sure she has already given up:rolleyes: and will just shake her head. That is what my wife would do.;) p/s glad to see it's a good shooter.

If Swisswife is in any way related to the Exwife I am familiar with, Swissman stands a chance of being converted into something resembling Swisscheese. :-)

I just bought a NIB Mod 59 last week, made in 1974, it is a very nice, i have always liked the 39 and the 59, i have a NIB Marlin Camp Carbine in 9mm that uses the same Mags as the Mod 59, George.

Leave those grips alone. They are classics and look great on your pistola!

Absolutely don't alter the grips. The 1st and 2nd gen S-W's look completely wrong w-out the factory panels. Every time I see a 39 or 59 with Pachmeyers on it I want to scream!

It's not your fault. That's what I said about my CZ-40P and Ruger P-91DC. It still stings!

Maybe Swisswife will want to know why you didn't buy Swiss and get a Sig. ;-)

Enjoy!

.....you can tell her you are saving the expense of buying new targets and show her all that unused space on the targets which will pay for the m59!!!!

Maybe Swisswife should be glad you bought a 59 & not a "Doubledstacked" Swissmiss.

Ha, i've found a pair of wood-grips

A member had an add in the classified. He sells some grips. A pair of wooden Mustang-grips for the Model 39. So I take off the
original grips of my Model 39 and switched them on my Model 59. The screw-distance, angle, etc. is perfectly the same. Only
the radius at the lower end of the grips is wider than it is necessary at the Model 59. (1)
On the righthand side at the upper end, the grip needs one cannelure more. (2)

And the grips must be grinded to a much thinner mesure for a comfortable holding. (3)

All in all it's the fact, that I had to remove material and the nice dark Mustang woodgrips are the right base to create a
pair of woodgrips for my Model 59.

The gun and myself deserves it, and I can't wait to hold the grips in my hands.

Swissman, You are not alone in hiding things from your wife... I just purchased a new limited edition Ruger Flat top in 41 Magnum and only have 22 days left before the bank updates our balance....guess I'd better tell her

I bought some Mustang grips Model S&W 39 from a forum-member..

They were today in my mailbox. 2 hours later, they got some
cosmetic surgery, and they will now fit for my Model 59 insteadfor the Model 39.
