and sent a return authorizing the credit card for repairing gramps model 19-3... will also get a re-blue and new grips.

If things go to plan, should have it returned around April/May 2016... I can't wait.:)

I appreciate that you are restoring a vintage S&W revolver, and the post would be more effective with a picture or two of gramps 19-3. Thank you!

A worthy project for a grandson. Hopefully, someday my Smiths will mean enough to my grandkids they will shoot and care for them, for what they are. Smith and Wessons, then Grandpas' Smith and Wessons.

I purchase revolvers in pawnshops from estates of men that once cherished the craftsmanship of Springfield.

well said - thank you!

@Heron163,

You may be pleasantly surprised. Back in late August, I contacted Customer Service about problems with my Model 57. I was told that I would be contacted in about 10 weeks with a repair estimate, explanation of the problem, and request for payment. Three weeks later, while recuperating from my 24th accident related surgery, FedEx was at the door with my Smith.

Honestly, I don't know if this was typical of S&W, but I wasn't prepared for that quick of a turn around! I don't know if Customer Service has a realistic grasp of shop turn around times!
