Sorry if I'm gushing, but I'm excited...
Just got a 4" I bought a while back hot rodded by my favorite local gunsmith. He gave the barrel an 11 degree crown, machined the sides of the slide (I *really* like it), did some stippling for a better grip, but the best part is the action job he did. I've got a 9 Pro with the full Apex kit in it that I thought was pretty good, but this one is even smoother and more crisp and he does it all with stock S&W parts.

I've got a few wheel guns and a 1911 that he's done his magic on for me and they have exceptional actions too, but now I see what he can do with an M&P.

Nice, but why the machine work on the slide?

Cool. Have you put any rounds through it with the stippling?

Just for something a little different. It's a little dressier and goes well with my tuxedo. ;)

Yeah, and it really improves my grip. I tend to have sweaty hands and the stippling helps a lot.

Looks like he does nice work.

He does. He really likes M&P's, but does excellent 1911 work too. I first heard about Joe 20+ years ago when I was shooting PPC and his wheelguns were the ones the winners were all shooting. That's still true today, though PPC isn't as popular as it was. I finally got to have a PPC gun built by him (yes, some of us are still shooting PPC) and it's far and away the best revolver I've shot, though the other two he did for me are right up there with it. He's a wizard with S&W revolvers. The other action shooting sports are more popular now and he's customizing and building revolvers and semi-autos for them (ICORE, IDPA, USPSA/IPSC, etc.)as well. He does a lot of rifle, shotgun and revolver work for the SASS shooters around here too. My next project for him is to hot rod my 9mm 1911 to use in PPC service class.
