Just traded my Smith Model 1000 12ga for a Nice 3rd gen Model 1006 10mm. Full size 5" barrel. Came with 2 mags and 72 JHP rounds, 20 of which are 175Gr. Winchester Silvertips , So I'm pretty thrilled about that. The gun had some minor wear issues when I first got it , But spent a little time today disassembling and lightly buffing it back to life. Also it Only came with Hogue rubber grips. Im not a fan of the Rubber grips, I will be buying some Hogue Pau Ferro very soon. Just figure I would share some pics. I have the 3rd gen fever. Need a .40 & .45 now. Pretty excited about having the 9mm & 10mm, Cant wait to put some rounds down range. Range report will be delivered soon.

Those sir, are probably the best 10 MM pistol ever made! I agree, I don't like the rubber grips, I much prefer the factory originals. Winchester Silvertips are the closest you can get to anything near original 10 MM loads from a major manufacturer too. Some of the specialty ammo places sell REAL 10 MM loads. Most of what's available now in 10 MM is no more than hot 40 S&W. The 10's come into their own when you handload. Enjoy your new pistol!

I also read that the 180gr. Buffalo Bore 10mm rounds are "true" 10mm rounds as well. With a rating of 1350fps and 750lbs of energy sounds pretty good to me.

Also try Underwood Ammo if you are looking for factory loads they have bonded hollow points in real 10mm power.

That shotgun for a 1006? You stole the gun! Makes no difference if it was the 1000 pump or the 1000 semi auto, you made a great deal. The "big" 3rd gen guns (10mm & .45 ACP) are just about the best guns ever made in those calibers.

You may want to round up some new factory grips. The rubber ones as well as the Houge wood grips turn the single stack into a double stack grip for me. I stole mine from a pawn shop a few years ago. They couldn't sell that kind of gun to their regular customer base.

Just picked up a set on Saturday from eBay, basically stole them for 12.88+Free shipping, The guy had them posted for under 20 mins when my phone alerted me. They are Original take off's and are in great shape. Actually the gun is for sale in the classifieds section. and will soon be on GunBroker.com, If I get no offers. Thanks, Matt

It's a very well built firearm, and definitely accurate. The 10mm is definitely a '' reloaders" round. It's not very common where I live and prices range from "ridiculous" to "extremely ridiculous". I just prefer the 1911 platform over anything. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a different 3rd gen, they are underrated and are great value pistols.

Looks great, Congrats! The S&W1006's are great, yours shows the non adjustibale sights, not a bad thing as the are faster to aquire the target for defensive work. However the ones with the adjustible sights make for finer sight picture for distance work.

Please take a look at this new 10mm Firearms website;

I just bought a 1006 off the for sale page today, that and a 15-3. Will replace my Glock 20C which i sold on the forum.
The 1006 will join my 610 which I bought new.

Picked up a 1006 last weekend at a local gun show. Since it was on Sunday, I couldn't believe that it had been passed up by the dealers on Friday or a big crowd on Saturday (not black or plastic, I guess). I was thinking something must be wrong with it...on the the third look, I took it home. Its sweet and clean. It will go well with my 1076 and 610's. These are real guns !

I managed to find one recently too. These are excellent guns!
