A happy day for me. The gun was owned by the owner of the range where I shoot. He had two, and now he has one! ( In truth, it was his wife's gun.) I am a very happy owner as I was able to shoot the gun BEFORE I bought it. And it is wonderful. Came with the original box and two mag's. Of course I now need a few more mag's and I have seen some very poor review's of mag's on the Midway site. Any truth to that? I am looking forward to using the gun in local bullseye shoots. It is a beauty.

You will really like that 52. They sure shoot great, and what a trigger. Why do you need so many mags for a bullseye match?

AS far as I know S&W still offers mags for the 52!
You may not like the price but if there are issues you have a place to complain to.

I have never seen any mags for the 52 other than S&W mags. So I don't know why Midways would be of any less quality. That said ANY 52 can be finicky with it's ammo and mags.

Thanks for the response'. I want two more mags because we shoot a timed round of 5 shots, 4 times. The line would wait for me to reload my two mags, but I hate that. So I will most likely buy two more. The Midway mags appear to be S&W mags at a lower price. The numbers are the same. Will buy and "tune" them if necessary. About the trigger.........wow is all I can say. Thanks again.

I've occasionally seen them on Gunbroker. Typically they are higher priced than new. Some people try to get big bucks for the older ones with metal followers. I have both and don't see any difference.

I shoot a S&W 52-1 and have never experienced any mag problems using 2.8 gr. Bullseye, Rem 1.5 behind Remington 148 gr. LHBWC seated flush with a very slight roll crimp. I have used both the old magazines with metal followers and the new ones with plastic followers - never had an alibi run with either one.

Been shooting a 52 for 20+ yrs. Never had an issue with any S&W magazine.

Oh, I wouldn't worry about that. . . they're going to be waiting for me, anyway!!!

Nice gun! I have to admit I'd like to pick one up myself, but with what I have invested in the two bullseye guns I already have, I think I'd better just keep shooting .45acp in the center fire match. Do you use optical sights or iron?

Optical sights and old age.....

I use optical ( DOT ) on almost everything I own, EXCEPT my 1911 and the 52. I cannot bring myself to put optical sights on them. I am a traditionalist!! ( And 62 years old and I cannot see the sights and the target at the same time anymore! ) :)

I'm almost your age and I put a red dot on my 52-2. The BME mount I use fits where the iron sight went and did not require any filing. That way I can return it to it's original pristine condition. :)

Your 52 ammo will be more accurate if you use a 9mm taper crimp instead of the rollcrimp. I reloaded for the 52 for years and learned the tip from a 'smith at the factory who built 52s all day long.
