Congrats and welcome. That's a very nice first revolver!
If your so inclined , how about a range report on what you think of your first revolver.
Thank you everyone for the warm welcoming. And yes, I'm already addicted and I haven't even shot the gun yet XD.
You'll enjoy it. I was picking on some steal plates at 100 yards with my 6" 686-4, on Labor Day weekend. Some were amazed that that could be done. But, they are great shooters.![]()

Not much better than a new Smith 686+ (love my dash-6 3 inch), except for another Smith.........
Wow, that's actually impressive. Sounds like a dead straight shooter. Then again, the gun is only as accurate as the person shooting it![]()
Apparently, the original owner of the gun was a gunsmith himself and he did a rather mean trigger job to it. The single action is very ticklish and the double action is very smooth. Better than stock action.
I may be one of the last people carrying a S&W Model 686 (4 inch sixshooter) as a duty weapon.
"An elegant weapon for a more civilized age." Obi-Wan Kenobi
Old Ben Kenobi would have carried a revolver.
If it was your first last or only can't beat a 686.
I'm always wary of guns that have had "trigger jobs"....especially when I don't personally know who did the work. Dollar for dollar, I'd take a stock gun over one that had been worked over.
Congratulations on the 686 it's a beauty. Welcome to the Forum from Kentucky.
