100 rounds? That's great for a safe queen. I hope you don't start carrying that thing until you got at least another flawless 400 through it.
 
Congratulations on the new Shield! Mine has served me well for the last 21 months and about 1,200 rounds!

I think that you will find it to be a very reliable, comfortable and enjoyable gun to shoot.

In case you decide to buy a few extra mags, I've found that 44mag.com usually has the best prices. I've ordered quite a few mags from them over the years and never had any issues. Shield mags go for about $22 - $30 on that site and standard shipping is usually only $5.00. MidwayUSA and other sites sometimes have Shield mags for under $30, but 44mag seems to have them at this price point consistently.
 
Well FourT5 it was the first time I shot the 9mm
I am fully aware that I need to shoot 3 or 4 hundred rounds before I carry it
 
Congratulations! You've got a great little big gun. Some people, including myself, have some feeding issues in the first hundred or so rounds and then their Shields settle in to running great. If you've had none, you probably won't.

This is deeply personal, and more is better than less, but personally 300 unblemished rounds, of which 60 or 80 are my chosen carry ammunition (since it tends to come in very pricey 20 round boxes) would be enough to give me a warm fuzzy feeling about the gun. More is, as I said, better though, particularly because the trigger tends to get smoother throughout the first 1,000 or so rounds.
 
FYI The Shield has a MAJOR Flaw!!!! :eek: It wants to eat all the time and if you are not carefull it will empty your wallet faster then a ticked off ex wife :rolleyes: CONGRATs on your new Shield.. Just got mine last month and LOVE it! Look into the Talon Grips and the Upula Loader your fingers will thank you for it :) 300 + round through mine, Flawless :)
 
I just put a pearce grip extender and Talon rubber grips
on my 9 shield and man what a difference

Man--is that ever true...I've had my Shield for a little over a month and as of yesterday's range trip...1,174 rounds. Never thought I'd find a subcompact 9mm that fun to shoot and trouble free. It ate everything I fed it: Blazer Brass, WWB, Freedom Munitions, Magtech, Sellier & Bellot, Remington Ultimate Defense, Hornady Critical Defense...and is always asking for more. It may be hungry--but I'll feed it; I trust my life to it without reservation.
 
Mine's been flawless for over 3yrs and >7000 rounds.

With people reporting the RSAs falling apart, I was almost dreading replacing my original. Well... I just put 100 rounds through my new RSA (that a group of us got from G&R) and guess what... The Rear Disk didn't bend and the RSA didn't fly apart when I got home!! Whew!!!

I hope Radco's, DeadBug's, BlackHorse's and jps200's new RSAa do as well.

Ill let you know when I get mine! The way mail runs up here in rural Maine I should have it by Friday or Saturday and I have 900 rounds of 9mm to test them with :) Again Thanks for doing the group buy

My original is going like gangbusters so far...sure don't want to fix something that aint broke yet, but after all that RSA problem talk, I'm glad I have a spare.

I keep remembering reading the manual before I shot my Shield for the first time, the proper seating and alignment of the RSA when reassembling was stressed. So from the very first pre-firing cleaning to now, I have always carefully aligned then pushed firmly down on the disc to make sure it was seated fully. maybe that's the difference--maybe just one shooting session with the RSA slightly out of alignment and/or not fully down on the barrel can set the RSA up for failure. Just my guess.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what's an RSA? I'm starting to research Shields, and this sounds like something I probably need to know about!
