I rarely run across these deals when I can afford to do anything about it.

I found this 442 on gunbroker for $225, and it's local, so no shipping.

My only other current J frame is a 40-1 that belonged to a buddy that has since passed. The steel frame and sentimental value make me reluctant to carry that one, so a nice 'beater' Airweight is perfect. Minimal worry about finish wear and if it sits in an evidence locker for a year it's not a big deal.

You stole that one. Mine has about 15 years of daily pocket wear on it, not quite as pretty anymore.

Yep; I figure down the road I'll get these guys CCR-REFINISHING to refinish it with their CeraHide 'nickel'. It'll look about like the factory nickel that came on the 442's in the mid 90's.

Like this? ;)

Can they do a 642?

They have a couple of different finishs. Look over their site. They should be able to come up with something that will work on the stainless and the aluminum. It may have to be a combo of two different finishs, though.

They were easy to work with when I sent in a S&W 5944 to refinish. I was pleased with the final result and the price was reasonable.

Nice job getting a great deal on a fine revolver. You will never go wrong with this choice. It is a great candidate for laser sights if you are so inclined.

Good Luck with your new revolver.

I picked up the 442 yesterday. Also got a little ammo as the shop is going out of business and the owner was discounting everything. Pickings were slim, but I did get a great deal.

We went to the range afterwards and the 442 did just fine. I have a very nice pocket revolver that I won't fret over if it gets scratched.
