Deaf,
I have one that I purchased about 5 or 6 years ago for $650. The Uncle Mikes came from the factory according to the Standard Catalogue. Anyway, mine has the smoothest single and double action of any Smith that I have owned and it is a pleasure to shoot. I think in todays market, at least here in California, $700 for one in good shape would not be unreasonable.
I paid $750 for my first one about five years ago. It was the second one I had seen up to that time. The first had a deep gouge in the side plate and the seller was very firm at $400.
I did find one last year on a gun show table at $495. Seller had no idea what it was. I bought it and immediately took it to a dealer friend at the same show. He sold it for $850 that day.
Since S&W revolver prices have risen sharply, I think $700 is a fair price if the gun is in good shape. The "rubber" grips are probably what it shipped with.
If you put a set of S&W round/square targets on it it looks like a miniature 686.
I have the same gun in Blue (M36) with a 3" Bull bbl and SB Stocks. While by no means a "pocket gun" it makes a great IWB or OWB revolver with stout (+P) loads.
Go for it!
Right now I got a 4 inch Model 63 in my pocket.
Also not really a Pocket Gun, but the 4 Inch Barrel actually rides well in the pants pocket.
Those little M60s with sights and three inch barrels are not seen all that often where I shop; the -4 without the lock not often at all. Paid $500 OTD for one two years ago but I suppose those days are gone. Good luck.
If the condition was better than good by any degree I would be on that like ugly on an ape.
I have been looking for one to go with my 60-10 but the ones priced right have been pretty rough and the clean ones are not cheap.
The next one in clean condition I will just have to pony up the $ for.
Hey there I’m posting a question on this thread because I could not find one specific to my question. I recently purchased a used model 10 without the barrel. It had a 2” barrel on it and I cannot find a 2” barrel for it anywhere. I did find a 3” for a decent price. My question is will it work, or will I need to find an ejection rod for the 3” barrel? Thank you for any advice. -G
I have never heard a “discouraging word” about the Model 60-4. I first saw one nearly 20 years ago and was given the opportunity about 6 years ago to buy one ANIB with all the docs etc for $700. I never hesitated. It now wears a set of ebony smooth combats because I couldn’t stand for a fine S&W revolver to be shod in sandals made from old tires!
It is shown here with its “big brother” my custom K-327.
Hopefully, it's still there when you get to the shop. And if it is, I can't wait to see pictures of your recently acquired 60-4 3" posted here on the forum.
