Hi, I have a similar revolver, S&W .32 cal with a 3" barrel, SN# H40881. How can I find out more about this sweet little revolver?
Welcome to the forum. That serial number dates your revolver to about 1971. If you swing out the cylinder and look on the exposed frame you will see a stamp like MOD 30-1, or maybe MOD 31-1. That's the model number. The Model 31 has a slightly larger and squarer grip than the Model 30. The Model 30 and 31 are J-frame guns, built on S&W's smallest frame. The six shot .32 target revolver that started this thread is built on their K frame, which is the company's medium frame.
Don't be shy about starting your own thread on your gun and adding a couple of pictures. You'd want to put it in the 1961-1980 section for best visibility, as this one focuses on the older hand-ejector revolvers (1896-1961).
