One of my favorites to shoot. I knew nothing about this weapon when I got it in trade back in 1979. I thought it was defective since it was single action.

Yes, they are very nice!
I LOVE the "single action only" set-up.
For me, this is the way to shoot a target revolver.
It's also a good way to ensure the previous owner(s) did not beat the gun up with rapid fire DA shooting.
You're not the first guy to think one of these was "broken".
Sometimes, it's possible to get a deal on one for this very reason.
Who am I to try and convince them otherwise?

It is almost certainly a factory SAO unit. 8K20576 has been verified as factory SAO. There were runs of them in the 3K, 5K and 8K serial ranges.
The target stocks on yours might be original (they appear to be period correct), but these units usually shipped with Magna stocks.
