Hey Guys, found a bunch of Grips, cleaning out one of my gun cabinets, that I had totally forgotten about!

Is there any easy way to tell the difference between the "K" and "N" frame sizes, just by looking at them or looking for distinctive features??!! I really don't want to take each and every one and see which frame they fit.

I have about a dozen from the old days, when I used to collect them. I have noticed they are becoming quite expensive, and sought after, for the older football type. I have a few smooth presentations, all Target and a few Normal GA checkered, etc. I believe there are a couple of smooth Rosewoods and some very nice Birdseye maples, both Magna and Targets. Unfortunately, no Cokes!!

I've tried several searches, with no luck. Any help would be appreciated, Thanx Guys!

Compare the width of the two shoulders by the stock washers. If they are the same width the stocks are N-Frame. If the rear shoulder is a bit narrower than the front one then the stocks are K-Frame. You don't need to measure, just a visual examination is completely adequate.

Side by side you can easily see the difference. On a K or L the rear ledge next to the insert looks to be about the same size as the insert rivet. If the ledge is larger it is an N frame. Been talked about with pics several times here.

Great guideline. Thanks.
