I need disassembly instructions for a mid 70's era K frame target sight. I have one the blade is dinged badly and I am going to replace it. Thanks in advance.

Also see my thread farther down the page ("Replacing an N-frame Sight Slide"). I just ordered a replacement kit (sight slide/blade, spring, screw, pin, instructions) from MidwayUSA for $11.49 + s&h, delivered in 3 days. If you already have a replacement blade, you can just order the screw kit, because you have to break the screw to make the repair. If you need a blade, you need to mic/measure your broken blade height (if possible) in order to get the proper replacement blade kit (.126, .160, etc), and you can order blued or white outline. Good luck.

Just completed a replacement- easy!

The Larry Potterfield video (MidwayUSA) on YouTube is pretty good. I just changed out the rear sight blade on my N-frame using a MidwayUSA rear sight blade kit, and used the instructions that came with the kit ($11.49). Only took me ~30 min., and it was pretty easy. Make sure that you put the entire gun (unless you remove the rear sight) and your hands into a big ziplock bag when you get ready to break and remove the old screw...otherwise you will lose the tiny spring and plunger that fits into the screw head. Good luck.

I think Mr. Potterfield is a nice guy and his Midwayusa is a great business, but in the mentioned You Tube video of his, he makes changing that rear sight blade look too easy. i.e. no flying plunger and spring, etc.
