K-Frame Snub: 65-3 Three Inch

Paid $500 for a 13-3 3" a few years back. My favorite revolver.

UGLY?!? I don't see ugly, I see BEAUTIFUL!

The 65-5 in my avatar is one of my all time favorite guns.
Round butt and short enough barrel to conceal nicely.
Long enough barrel for a decent sight radius and bullet velocity.
Near perfect balance.
Stainless for good rust resistance.
Shoots mouse fart 38's or dragon's breath 357's equally well.
What's ugly about any of that?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if I had to sell off all my handguns, it would be the last one to go.
And I paid $500 for mine...

That is the one I am looking for, a stainless 3" model 65 in very good condition. I had one, and like the mistake I had with other revolvers, sold it to buy the new semi-autos.

I've had this gun for almost a year, and never really shot it before this week. The only reason I bought it is because it was marked under $300. I will purchase any excellent condition S&W for less than $300 on principle.

I built confidence with this gun extremely quickly, and would not think twice about carrying it. I guess that's a testament to the concept and engineering of the K frame snub.

Bought my 3" M65-3 LNIB, from a forum member here, several years ago. I paid "a bit" more for mine, & it was worth every last penny.

Sat in my safe for over a year (wanted to keep it pristine for investment reasons), until I came to my senses.

Hogue bantams, & a set of springs. Carried in a shoulder rig. Fantastic action, & perfect / uncanny balance.

Carry Speer 38+P SB Gold Dots, & shoot 158LSWC hand loads (3.6 grns TiteGroup / .357 brass) at the range.

Between the M65-3, & my M640-1 (same carry & range loads, BTW), it really just don't get much better...

How long ago did you pay 300 for it? I'd love one to match my 13-3 3inch carry gun

A 3" 65 is my favorite shooter, and when I carry it (in a very nice enhanced pancake holster from Lobo) it wears the original Magnas and a BK grip adapter. I can't do a 100+ round IDPA match with those grips, though, and put on cushy Pachmayrs for competition. I also have found that the sights are easier to pick up when the front ramp is painted with red-orange nail polish and the rear notch is blackened with matte black model paint. It does as well (for me) in competition as a 4" Model 10.

Yes those stainless sights are annoying. I'm thinking of taking my 64-5 to a gunsmith to see what sort of post blade options he could do.

More than once on this forum, I have professed my love for the 3" HB K-frame guns. I think it's looks are as balanced as it's feel. No double action gun has ever felt or handled in my hand like my 13-3 3" does. The 2.5" adj. sight guns don't even come close.
