I just recently acquired a S&W K38 Target Masterpiece, Model 14-3, Serial 1K1423. Does anyone out there know an approximate year of manufacture?

1K1423 is definitely a 1970 serial number. The 1K numbers for that year are 1K1 through 1K39500. The rest of the 1K numbers were used in 1971.
