I know, it's not a Smith, but I just bought an almost NIB Kahr E9 made in the late nineties, and I'm looking for a good way to carry this all steel compact package this summer. I'm left handed, so that makes things more interesting. Too big and heavy for pocket carry, I know, but other alternatives are being explored. Any ideas?

Lots of holster manufacturers out there...I have a weakness for Kramers and Milt Sparks. Get a high quality holster, you will be amazed at how comfortable they can be. Also get a high quality belt that is rigid enough to help carry the load. Mnay of my student have purchased Carhartt belts for not a lot of money and they do a great job.

I carry a Kahr P40 most days anymore. I'm impressed with the basic design and simplicity of all functions. My P40 regularly delivers 25 rounds within a five inch circle at 25 yards, so I find it to be perfectly suitable for daily carry.

I make holsters for the Kahr products. If interested, please click on my username to display my e-mail address. I'll be happy to send photos of several styles that might be of interest to you.

I have my Wilson K40 in a Rosen ARG today. (Haven't carried one of my Kahrs in weeks, and here's this cool thread, just waiting on me!

) I also have a Sparks Executive Companion for my full-size Kahrs. Both designs work very well. I have a Brommeland Max-Con V on order, and that design is my favorite for most any pistol carried IWB. K&D Holsters make good ones, also.

I carry my Kahr P45 in a Fist ulta thin Kidex # 10 IWB that is adjustable for cant and has interchanable loops, etc. Very good retention and almost no bulk. I have them ordered for a 1911, Glock and Springfield.

Hey J-frame,

Want a Graham holsters "Pop Top" holster for the thing? This is an IWB that rides just below the beltline and conceals a gun w/o a cover garment. (One accesses the gun by nudging it upward by the front sight - there's a cutout in the lower part of the holster that allows you to do this through your pants - the gun then pops up out of your waistband like toast from a toaster. Only caveat is that you pretty much have to be trim to pull this off.

Here's a link so you can see what I'm talking about: http://www.grahamholsters.com/iwb.htm

Anyway I'm a southpaw as well, and I got one of these well-made Pop-Tops back when I had a P9 Covert. It worked very well for IWB without a cover garment. I wound up wearing it just to the right of my belly button, though it worked well just left of centerline in the front as well.

Since I no longer have the P9 Covert, I no longer need this holster. If you want it, just drop me an email and I'll put it in the mail to you. It's a very nice holster, and I'd sure like it to go to a good fellow who'd use it.

cheers, erich

I've NEVER heard of a Kahr E9. Is it POSSIBLE you have a K9?

E9 was the "economy model" of the K9.

Plastic sights and stocks, came with only one mag, difference in the appearance of the slide finish and lettering, front sight staked instead of dovetailed. The ones that I've seen were perfectly fine guns.

WoooHoooo!!! Just got a nice e-mail from Gary Brommeland. My 3rd Generation Max-Con V for my Kahrs should be here within 2-3 weeks. While I'm still mostly a 9x23-1911-type guy, I've been shooting my Kahrs a lot lately, and having tons of fun. I tend to want to carry what I've most recently worked out with. My Kahrs just seem to hit where I look.

J Frame,
You really should take Erich up on his very generous offer! You won't trip over L/H holsters for yours just anywhere up and down the dial!

Hey, Erich, I appreciate the kind offer AND the kind words. I should never have posted this thread; I let a buddy of mine talk me into a gun trade THAT NIGHT on the Kahr pistol and he gave me cash to boot. It was kinda hard for me to pass on. That holster looks cool in the pics on that site, but it probably won't fit the Mossberg 500 that was NIB we traded on.

Thanks again, though Erich, it's guys like you that make this Forum such a big part of my life, everyone is like family after you've been here awhile.

Right on. I've also got a Mossberg 500 that's the gun I've owned the longest - and, like you, I no longer have the Kahr.

I'm pleased to be able to be part of a community with fine folks such as yourself and the other folks we have here, and it's my great pleasure to be able to try to put back some of what I've gained here.

I'm very glad it worked out for you, amigo.

I hope you enjoy your Kahr. I got a K9 nearly ten years ago. I found a P9 to keep it company a few weeks ago. Mitch Rosen makes a simple IWB holster that uses a spring steel "clip". The holster is pretty easy to slip on and off and the spring is strong enough that it never works loose and stays put on draws. I also have an Alessi (sp?) "pancake" OWB that works well. I imagine that each of these holsters is available in "Southpaw" flavor.

I use a Sparks VMII for full size P series Sigs. I've often wished for a VMII for the Kahrs. No other holster I own comes close for inside the waistband comfort.
