Keep Shield or upgrade to Sig P365?

The Sig 365 is a total game changer. I got very lucky with an online vendor and paid a fair price for one. A shield will get the job done and I think most Shield owners will tell you to stick with the shield but having owned both, the Sig is an upgrade. The size and ergos are perfect for me. The lack of any safety is my preferred method for CCW (Revolver guy here). The P365 is the perfect EDC until someone comes along and dethrones it.

FWIW I have both, and will keep both.

I recently went to a sidecar holster, the P365 is the first to fit one and I'm considering one for the Shield too. In my decision process I weighed them both with a spare mag and they are about dead even (of course the Shield needs the spare mag more than the 365).

The 365 does carry easier overall and I did a Bill Drill last outing and still my Shield did better.

Put a 365 on lay-a-way today. Sometime in the next 60 days, I will be taking it to the range. I do not have a Shield 9mm for comparison, but I do have a Kahr CW9, Taurus PT111 G2 9mm, S&W 3913 to borrow, and a Shield 380 EZ. Should be an intersting day.

Seems many are replacing their Shields with the P365 and i will say the 365 interests me and i will look at 1 if i ever see 1!

Anybody here got 1 yet or planning on getting 1?

I have both. I used to rotate the Shield and 9c depending on what I was wearing. Now with the 365 it’s smaller with a 10 round and a hair longer with the 12 rounds. I retired my shield and 9c to the safe.

I just wonder if all the issues with the 1st batches like front sight falling off, not going in battery, slide not locking back and the barrel and frame peening is actually fixed?

I know its Striker fired but wonder if it can also be hammer fired like the P320 when hit or dropped?

Its looks nice from pictures but will have to hold 1 to see, have a Glock 27, Keltec PF9 and the Shield.

Currently the 365 is a "Unicorn" and on GB they go for $799. + CC fees and $30. shipping !

The online price was $499. which they should go back to when more are available!

I have the 2nd gen and it’s flawless at about 1000 rounds.

There are a LOT of pistols out there that feel great when fondling them at the counter. The REAL question is how do they feel to SHOOT, compared to the Shield?

The XD-S Feels nice to fondle, but doesn't feel as nice to shoot as the Shield, even though it's a bit heavier. If it did feel nicer to shoot, I'd be owning one of them, instead of my Shield.

The PF-9 weighs less, is slightly smaller in all dimensions and feels very nice to fondle, but is very harsh to shoot. I owned one and carried it for 3 Yrs before trading it for my Shield. The list goes on.

Before giving up your Shield for a P365, try one first and shoot them side-by-side.

I wouldn’t and didn’t sell my shield but the 365 is the best shooting small gun I have in my collection.

Yeah...barrel and slide peening, serious issues going into battery and other feeding problems, and only 2x the price!!!!

Not seeing how a possible jam-o-matic is an "upgrade". Maybe 6 months to a year from now...

Those issues fixed. I have multiple friend who got the 365 and all have been flawless.

I Traded my Shield in on a P365. I'm 2nd on the waiting list at Scheels. They had a demo example to play with. Hard to pick out anything bad about the little gun. 10 rounds of 9mm in a much more compact design. I already have 2-12 rounders. Sig has addressed a problem with the gun and now back in full production. Its hard to believe they pack 10 rounds in that little magazine. I think Sig just set the BAR for compact carry 9mm. Its not quite as small as my R9 Rohrbaugh but that gun is 6 rounds and kind of a handful. Watch Hickok 45 demonstrate it on youtube or full30. Scheels just called and my 365 is in. Wife has the car so I have to wait until tomorrow to pick it up. the wait will probably kill me. And all of the problems that are talked about were from last year

Sadly the front sight falling off , not locking back have not been fixed and now the worst part is the Firing Pins breaking since we found out they are cast and even Harry from Harrys Holsters who did about 12 vids on his 2 P365 and now after 1K rounds when he went to shoot it no "Bang"!

On Sig Forum they are awaiting on new firing pins being made by another company for $85.-$95. next month and seems many will buy these.

So things are getting worse and as many said they been carrying their P365 pistols only to find out they are/have not worked since last range trip! Just Sad.

Forgot to say the Pins seem to break any time there have been a few cases listed they came broken off from factory, others at 50 rounds some at hundred and some at 1K or such and even if using Snap Caps they have broken.

Have read 2 reports where Gun ranges stopped renting the P365 pistols due to them being not useable after 6-8 hrs of rental.

Here is a Vid of a new one with front sight sliding off!

Wow, that dude jerked the trigger hard enough to make the pistol fire, even with a broken firing pin! He needs more dry firing training.

At one point I had both, the Shield and the P365. I sold the P365 after about 300 rnds. The almost straight up grip just didn't work for me, compared to the Shield's more conventional feeling grip.
The Sig 10 round mag was attractive though. Magguts solved that concern for me, converting a flush 7 OEM mag to 9 rounds +1 in the chamber.

I'm one of the dudes on sigtalk that have a P365 with a broken striker. The P365 does have issues at the moment, however, once they refine the design, it'll be the best cc gun available (at least for me).

If I were you, I'd hold off and browse sig forums once in a while to see when all the teething issues are fixed

Sorry to hear, any idea if they will make a non cast firing pin or just keep replacing these but seems many have been breaking!

LSPI is making a 17-4 firing pin. I intend on picking one up when they come out.

Meh, I get better info here. Too many arrogant, elitist, oversensitive, cry babies over there. If you want to know how I really feel, just ask me! ;)
