The lit'l woman tried to put me on a diet...
And I must admit I need to lose a bit of weight.

Anyhows, she fixes this veggie meal, (I'm a meat & potato man) she said it was lite....

If it had been any lighter, I'd been standing outside peekin through the keyhole.... Gees

How much weight do you plan to lose? I can assure you that these type
diets/life styles will work.
Nine years ago this month the doctor told me I was type 2 diabetic. Followed by a heart attack in April. At the time I was 245lbs and 5'10"
I went on a low carb, paleo, modified keto and lost down to 165lbs,
still 5'10" and got off the diabetic meds in 18 months.
My diet, no sugar, no grains or grain products except old fashioned oat
meal, no white potatoes, no processed meats and I quit beer, wine and
whiskey.
I do eat lean meats, chicken, fish, turkey and lots of green leafy vegetables, several fruits and sweet potatoes, all kinds of nuts and
I do eat dairy products in moderation.
I also take a blood pressure pill, genetics you know.
Keep up the good work and report your progress from time to time.
 
Lost 50lb plus with ( very simplified Keto ) . No calorie counting, no being hungry . I am in favor of working out generally , but during this time gym didn't fit into my schedule .

But beyond the literal weight, the side effects are even better . Better digestion . More energy . More energy total, and particularly even energy 36hrs a day, no more being energized for a while, and groggy an hour later .

Mainlineing beef and bacon . Foot long subs have been replaced by salads from Subway and WaWa . The only thing I miss is pepperoni pizza . Plenty of cheese and pepperoni, but miss the crispy thin crust .

Beer is a two pronged question - carbs, and the actual alcohol .

A single Light Beer is a significant portion of a daily carb goal . Vodka has zero carbs, and most hard liquor has minimal .

But the alcohol itself slows down the Ketosis , so use moderation .

I never got "sick" , or at least never noticed in the context of usual background level of allergies . But my MD ( Medical Dr) friends doing Keto personally , report maybe 50% of people have mild flu- like symptoms, for up to a week .
 
Been on keto since early Oct., down over 40 pounds. It's an easy diet to follow. Drop potatoes, bread, rice, and pasta and you're nearly there. A biscuit now and then won't hurt anything. Fall off the wagon--get right back on and don't fret it.

I've found a light breakfast (3 eggs, 2-3 strips of bacon), light snack (4-5 pieces of hard cheese), and an evening meal of meat, low-carb veggies, small salad keep me filled. Number of meals is down as are the portions. I don't find myself getting hungry like I used to.

You hear stories of the "keto flu," but it's over stated. It passes quickly anyhow.

Witch doctor put me on a diet that consisted of low carb veggies, two helpings of meat that were no larger than the palm of my hand per day and all the raw nuts and seeds I wanted to eat.
Told me to eat as much "healthy" fat as I could cram down the throat. Lost 60 pounds went from a 38 waist to 34, almost got down to a 32".
Now the diet is simple. Basically, if it comes in a can, box or plastic bag I wont eat it. All grains and I mean all grains and refined sugars are out of my diet. I am almost 60 and have never felt this good my entire life
 
Keep at it.

During 2018 is slowly over a few months slipped into a veto diet; partly to loose weight and partly to relieve an auto immune inflammation issues.

Mid-May I went completely Keto. It is the best thing I've done in years. I'm now down a little over 60 pounds. My joints are pain free and I'm medication free. My blog pressure has dropped and I no longer need to to take blood pressure pills.

Slowly dropping starchy carbs out of my diet made it easy to stick to a keto diet life style. I don't miss the carbs.

I've never been a big beer drinker. Thankfully whiskey is Keto friendly.

This is a snapshot of a normal Keto dinner: steak, salad, veggies and a small glass of dry red wine. I don't miss the potato and bread one bit. I don't feel deprived or like I'm "dieting" one bit.

Oh and I've got really good at selecting perfect avocados.

I started the Keto diet last March and lost 30lbs in about 4 months.
I woke up in the morning on the 2nd day, in a cold sweat and weak. I knew what was happening (low blood suger) and went to the pantry for a cookie and sat down for a few minutes until I felt better.

Never had any trouble after that.

my diet is very simple: I can eat anything I want, I just can't swallow it.
 
Never have been a fan of diets. Have seen numerous people on these that lost a lot, but eventually gained it and more back.
The issue is calories in, calories burned, period.
Eat sensibly, and exercise.

I'm not a fan of diets too. I'm not sure I would call eating keto really going on a diet. It is more of a life style and change in the way you eat.

Even if you are eating"keto" it is still all about calories in, calories burned and staying in a calorie deficit to loose weight.

I don't measure anything or count calories. For the first little bit of time going completely keto I did try to judge my carb intake with a goal of keeping my carb intake in the 20 to 30 grams of carbs per daybed was happy hitting less than 50 grams per day. Really by dropping the starchy stuff out of my diet made hitting those numbers very easy. One can eat a lot of leafy above ground veggies and berries with out getting very many carbs.

Cutting out starchy carbs like bread, pasta, potatoes, carrots and things loaded with sugar from your diet naturally drops a lot of calories out of your daily intake. An example is my breakfast. For years breakfast for me was a couple of eggs, two slices of toast with jelly, couple of slices of ham or bacon and maybe hash browns. Now I still have a couple of eggs, half a slice avocado, some salsa and maybe a slice of bacon or smoked salmon. Just cutting out the toast and hash browns in several hundred calories.

Lunch has always been a sandwich and maybe some chips or burger and fries. Now it is a protein cold ham, chicken , beef, etc. and a stick of celery with almond butter and a couple of strawberries for desert. Just dropping the two slices of bread not having sandwich drops another 200 plus calories from my daily intake.

Dinner use to be a salad, veggies, starch like potato or rice, maybe some bread or roll and a protein. I've dropped the bread and starch which drops another 300 or 400 calories out my daily intake. I still eat the green salad with dressing. Veggies are cooked in avocado oil and they get butter. I use to eat lots of red meat and I still do but fatty fish like salmon show up on my plate more often these days.

Beer was a regular beverage at dinner. That's gone, replaced with water and maybe a nice red wine on the weekend.

I figure just dropping the carbs out saves me almost 750 calories a day. 3000 calories equals a pound.

I eased into dropping carbs over about a six month period. I didn't just go cold turkey. I also slowly changed the types of fats used incoming and what showed up on my plate. I don't miss the carbs. I never had the "keto flu".

Really I just haven't felt like I'm on a diet. I'm just making better choices in what I'm sticking in my former pie hole.

Speaking of pie; I love my wife apple pie. With some work she has worked out a lower carb recipe that we've tested on non-veto eating family members. They couldn't tell it wasn't her sugar filled old recipe. So, life is good. I don't see myself ever going back to a higher carbs, low fat way of eating.

Dinner tomorrow will be braised antelope shoulder in a white wine garlic sauce and a smoky mac n cheese with spaghetti squash subbing for the mac.

Life is good.

We used to eat either potatoes or Mac & cheese for a side with fish which we have quite often. Now we have califlour & cheese. It's just as good as the Mac & cheese without the carbs.
 
I switched from 12 oz Lager curls to 16 oz IPA curls and changed all the house door locks.

I lost 250 lbs of ugly fat in less than 24 hours; my mother in law can no longer get in the house...
 
OK. I'll take 6 oz. of the #1 illustrated beef, a large helping of steamed broccoli with dab of butter no salt, raw carrots on the side, and a glass of Kentucky's finest. Does that cover it? Life is good!

You need to drop the carrot off but ad maybe some browned butter sauce or a blue cheese compound butter to the steak.
