Where does one get a spare key for the internal lock on a Smith and Wesson revolver? Thank you.

PS: Moderators, please forgive me if I posted this in the wrong area, feel free to relocate it to the proper forum. Thanks.

I'm gonna guess S&W would send you a couple for free. Give 'em a call. Some forum members have more keys than they know what to do with, and I've seen 'em offer a key or two up for free over the years. They might be along . . .

Pretty sure if you provide CS with the serial number, or just tell them you have an IL revolver, they will send you a key.

Wow, I've bought guns because of the grips, buying a smith revolver for the IL KEY, that's a good one!

When I bought a 617-6, from an individual, it had no keys with it. I figured I might need a set if it ever had a malfunction (like I heard so much about), so I called S&W and they sent me a set free. At about the time I had a Remington 700 VS with a similar lock and I called them, and they said I would have to order a set and pay for them. I fixed it by removing that shroud and firing pin and installing a Timney.
