Kimber "Solo", anyone have one, seen one?

I've seen one and held one. Small and nicely made.
Just a lot of money for such a little gun....IMHO.

Handloader magazine did a write up recently. I have been to all the Kimber dealers, but they are not in stock yet. And that is odd because they will all order me one, and they say the distributors have them.

Yes, it is the Kimber Solo, Ruger has the LC 9, SR9, SR9C and SR40/C

From what I have read it seems like a nice pocket 9 but expensive as most Kimbers are.

If the Ruger SR9C did not have the "pop up" loaded chamber indicator and lever safety it would a gun I would consider. But all that has been discussed before.

I have not seen one in person but just read the Oct 2011 issue of Guns Magazine... it is on the cover and there is an exstensive review of it by M. Ayoob

My LGS has a waiting list for them, I've been on it for a month and a half, but think I'm going to drop off, not for any reason except I've found another interest and I've got plenty of smaller firearms.
Price on the waiting list is in the high $700's for the SS version.

I've seen em' locally, about $650. Nice fit and finish, don't know about reliability though, there's mixed reviews out there.

Why?, Why?

I admit I have never been a Kimber fan. Don't know why. They look nice, have a lot of models maybe just appear too expensive for bells and whistles.

First hand knowledge I will tell you my LGS ;),has sold and taken back in trades more Solo's.. than any other gun.. since the introduction of the LCP..and their recall
Just pure malfunction FTF..FTE.. and on and on..

I'm sure that Kimber will get it right but not now...

BTW I carry a Kimber ULTRA CDP II everyday... so I love the brand...

How is Kimbers customer service? Is it a hassle sending stuff back for warranty work?. After being "spoiled"by S&W it's hard to compare to any other company.

Please tell me how this is possible, very, very few Solo's have even been delivered?

Most every review, even Ayoob's, talk about a long "break in" period before it works properly. Why doesn't it work out of the box? Or after a coupla' hundred rounds even?

Just carry a PPK if you gotta' go small and flat. The Kimber is the newest and best until the newest and best comes along.

If a long "break in" period was mentioned in a Hi Point or even a Ruger review it would be flagged as an indicator of poor quality.

Business 101...If you want to sell something be sure to take out multiple full page ads in all the gun rags...just saying ;)

My pusher over in Ft Walton Beach said she would take 40 of them if her distributor would offer them to her. Must be quite a demand.
